Running a fête for a church like Church of St Pancras? A paella pan draws people in. If you’re organising a summer fair or fundraiser for a school such as Eythorne Elvington Community Primary School, a paella stall is a crowd-pleaser. Within about 7 miles is the Kent Downs National Landscape, where events may have extra rules on vehicles and waste; we work to the site rules. With the sea within about 6 miles, we plan shelter from the wind for coastal events, and seafood paella sells well by the sea.

Catering for every guest

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. Our advice:

  • Ask traders about packaging and waste
  • Make sure the line-up includes vegan and gluten-free options
  • Schedule crew meals
  • Check allergen info is on display

Crew meals are served at set times.

Larger pans for peak times.

Prices and what affects them

The price comes down to a few factors:

  • How many staff you need
  • Parking and unloading
  • The length of service
  • Whether you need crockery

There is no one-size-fits-all price for live paella. A garden party lunch and a full wedding menu are very different jobs. Your quote spells it all out.

What we need to know

Good planning starts with a few facts. Try to include:

  • The date and time of the event
  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • Whether the venue has crockery or staff
  • Where the event is

We need only a few details to quote: date, location, guest numbers and diets. You can send us your details through our quote form.

Planning the cooking area

No two venues are the same, so we will ask about yours before we confirm. In general, we need:

  • Firm, level ground
  • Trader information and site rules
  • Vehicle access before and after the event

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and we will say what we think before you book.

FAQs for Waldershare

Can you cook near the sea around Waldershare?

Yes, as long as we can shelter from the wind. Sea breezes cool the pan, so a windbreak, building or gazebo helps.

Can you run a stall at a school fair in Waldershare?

Yes, with the school’s permission. Send us the date, pitch and expected numbers.

How many paellas should we have?

Two or three is usual: meat or mixed, seafood, and vegetable or vegan. We will help you decide the split.

Can you cook in the rain?

We cook under cover, like a gazebo or open-sided marquee. We will agree a wet-weather plan with you.

Do you offer halal options?

We can. Let us know your halal numbers, and we will cook a separate pan.

Can you cater for crew and volunteers?

We can. We can cook for crew, volunteers or a hospitality area as well as, or instead of, a public stall.

How the day works

We work to your timings. If speeches run late or the photos take longer, we hold the paella at the right stage so it is still served fresh. Summer events in Waldershare have daylight until about 9:15pm at midsummer and about 7:00pm by late September, which helps evening trading. Winter markets, dark by about 3:50pm, need a well-lit pitch.

  1. We check your dates.
  2. We agree what we will serve and where.
  3. We set up our burners and pans.
  4. The first pans are ready as visitors arrive.
  5. We serve, then clear the pitch at the end.

Preparing for the day

  • Make sure the spot is clear of anything flammable
  • Have a level space ready for the pans
  • Give us a contact for the day

Working with your venue

Organising a club, school or community event in Waldershare? Live paella feeds a crowd quickly and suits most diets. Give us the details and we’ll suggest a plan.

Venues frequently have their own rules about outside caterers: where cooking is allowed, access times and the paperwork they need. Send us your venue’s requirements and we will follow them.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

You can cook paella for a crowd yourself, but it takes practice. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right at scale is tricky. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, have hot stock ready, and leave the rice alone once it is in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.
