Running an event in Roke

Roke is about 7 miles east of Didcot, in Oxfordshire. From the centre of Roke to the outskirts, festival paella catering works the same way: paella cooked live, every diet catered for and a clear quote. Roke is one of 443 towns and villages in Oxfordshire we cover. Our nearest city page is Oxford, about 10 miles away.

If you’re organising a summer fair or fundraiser for a school such as Benson Church of England Primary School, a paella stall is a crowd-pleaser. Within about 6 miles is the Chilterns National Landscape, where events may have extra rules on vehicles and waste; we’ll follow the site’s requirements.

We cook at events all over OX10. If your venue is just outside Roke, we also cover Ewelme (2 miles south-east), Brightwell Baldwin (2 miles north-east), Chalgrove (2 miles north), Britwell Salome (3 miles east) and Watlington (4 miles east). We also cook in nearby towns such as Oxford (10 miles north-west), Didcot (7 miles west), Abingdon-on-Thames (8 miles west), Thame (9 miles north-east), Wantage (14 miles west) and Henley-on-Thames (11 miles south-east).

  • Nearby schools include Wallingford School (2.5 miles south-west)

How our festival paella catering works in Roke

Because paella is cooked in big batches, it handles lunchtime rushes well. Each portion takes seconds to serve. For VIP and hospitality areas and open days, we can cook churros, giant-pan paella and seafood paella.

At a fête or field event near Roke, we can bring hot food to a rural site. Ground conditions and access matter, so tell us about them. Timings are planned around your event, so the paella is ready when you want to eat.

Roke questions

Is Roke too small for live paella?

No, we cook in small places too. Let us know about access and parking.

Can you cook at venues in the Chilterns National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules; ask your venue. We’ll follow the site rules.

Can you provide dessert?

We do. Spanish desserts such as churros or crema catalana, or you can serve your own cake.

Is the paella cooked on site?

Yes, always. We cook from scratch in large pans at your venue, where your guests can watch.

Do you cater for coeliacs?

We can cook a gluten-free paella in its own pan. Tell us about any coeliac guests when you book so we take the right care.

Can you cook halal paella?

Yes. Halal paella is cooked with halal chicken and no pork or alcohol, in a separate pan.

Can you feed our volunteers?

We can. Crew, volunteer and VIP catering is available, with or without a public stall.

Do you have the documents we need?

Send us your list and we’ll respond.

For planners, venues and organisers

Venues frequently have their own rules about outside caterers: where cooking is allowed, access times and the paperwork they need. Send us your venue’s requirements and we’ll follow them.

If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you’re a planner, an office manager or an event organiser, we will work directly with you and the venue. It keeps things simple.

DIY paella versus live catering

Some hosts like to cook themselves. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. Booking us means you get the show without the stress.

How it works

On the day, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so we time everything to your schedule. Evening events in Roke have light until about 9:25pm at midsummer; after dark, we need a lit pitch.

  1. Send the event name, expected visitors and pitch size.
  2. We reply with our menu, prices for visitors and requirements.
  3. Paperwork goes over in good time.
  4. We time the first pans for the lunchtime rush.
  5. When trading ends, the pitch is cleared and left clean.

How to prepare

  • Make sure the spot is clear of anything flammable
  • Let us know the timings for the day
  • Tell us where to park and unload

Paella compared with other options

Food that sits in a hot cabinet isn’t much to look at. Paella cooking in full view sells itself. Compared with a plated meal, live paella is frequently good value, because it needs no kitchen and fewer staff. We will send you a quote.
