Running an event in Passfield

Passfield is about 7 miles south-east of Alton, in Hampshire. Give us the address of your event in Passfield, and we’ll plan the journey and set-up before the day. Passfield is one of 683 places in Hampshire where we cook. Our nearest city page is Guildford, about 15 miles away.

If you are organising a summer fair or fundraiser for a school such as Mill Chase Academy, a paella stall is a crowd-pleaser. Within about 5 miles is the Surrey Hills National Landscape, where events may have extra rules on vehicles and waste; we work to the site rules.

Festival paella catering in GU30 is planned around your venue and your guests. Local streets include The Lyndons, Eleanor Close and Lynchborough Road; an event at home on any of them works well with live paella. If your venue is just outside Passfield, we also cover Conford (1 mile south-east), Weavers Down (1 mile south), Liphook (2 miles south-east), Woolmer (2 miles south-west) and Longmoor (2 miles south-west). Prices and what affects them

These are the factors that matter most:

  • Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert
  • Chicken, vegetable or premium seafood
  • How many guests are eating
  • Travel, parking and access

Tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are optional extras, so you can choose exactly what you need.

What to tell us

You don’t need everything decided to ask for a quote, but these help:

  • Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
  • The venue or postcode
  • Your date and when you want to eat
  • Any dietary needs and allergies

Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many guests, along with any dietary needs, and you will get a menu idea and a price. Just send us your details through our quote form.

Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?

For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles separate pans for each diet.

Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it is harder than it looks. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right at scale is tricky. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.

Common questions in Passfield

What’s the nearest station to Passfield for guests?

The closest is Liphook station, roughly 2.3 miles away.

How far is Passfield from London?

Roughly 42 miles from the centre of London.

Do you take everything away?

We take our equipment and leave the cooking area tidy. Ask us about table clearing if you need it.

Is there a vegan option?

Yes, always. A vegan paella pan sits alongside the meat and seafood pans.

Do you do starters?

Yes, it is the classic pairing. Tapas go out first, then the paella.

Can you cook indoors?

Only in a suitable, well-ventilated area with the venue’s permission. Most events have us cooking outside or in a doorway or courtyard.

Is the paella gluten-free?

A gluten-free pan is no problem. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance so we take the right care.

Can we book you as a trader?

Tell us about your event, and we’ll reply with our availability and what we need.

Working with your venue

Hosting a party at home? Send us a picture of the garden and tell us about access, and we’ll let you know if live paella is a good fit.

For larger events, we plan the number of pans and serving points around your timings, so guests are fed quickly. Tell us how long you have for food.

The process

It is a relaxed, well-organised set-up. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, set up our cooking area, and cook and serve without fuss. At midsummer, events in Passfield stay light until about 9:20pm, so evening trading normally finishes in daylight in high summer. Winter markets, dark by about 4:00pm, need a well-lit pitch.

  1. We check your dates.
  2. We agree what we’ll serve and where.
  3. We set up our burners and pans.
  4. Pans are cooking as gates open.
  5. We serve, then pack down.

How to prepare

  • Share the running order, including any speeches
  • Pick a flat, firm spot for us to cook
  • Check the venue allows live cooking
