Live festival paella catering in Newtown Common
Cook it yourself or book a caterer?
Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, keep the stock hot, and leave the rice alone once it is in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.
You can cook paella for a crowd yourself, but it takes practice. Large pans need the right burners, and getting the rice right for dozens of people takes experience. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.

We bring the pans and burners and work to your site rules, including arrival and waste arrangements. Whether it’s sports club events and crew, volunteer and VIP catering, we’ll put together a menu of vegan paella, seafood paella and chicken and chorizo paella.

Paella compared with other options
Some traders struggle with vegan and gluten-free options. A paella stall can have a vegan pan alongside the rest. Got a budget? Let us know, and we’ll suggest a menu to match. A simple menu can still feel generous.

The process
We cook over gas burners in wide, shallow pans. We need a level, ventilated spot, which we agree with you beforehand. Summer events in Newtown Common have daylight until about 9:25pm at midsummer and about 7:10pm by late September, so evening trading usually finishes in daylight in high summer. For winter markets, dark by about 4:00pm, the pitch needs lighting.
- First, we check the dates.
- We agree what we will serve and where.
- We set up our burners and pans.
- The first pans are ready as visitors arrive.
- We serve, then pack down.
Before we arrive
- Tell us when you want to eat
- Let us know who to talk to on the day
- Check the venue allows live cooking
