Mugswell questions

Can you cook in Eyhurst Park?

Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Check with them, and we’ll provide our paperwork.

Can you run a stall at a school fair in Mugswell?

Yes, if the school is happy for us to cook on site. Send us the date, pitch and expected numbers.

Do you do starters?

Yes. Canapés with drinks or tapas for the tables, served while the paella cooks.

Is the paella gluten-free?

We can cook a gluten-free paella in its own pan. Tell us about any coeliac guests when you book so we take the right care.

Do you need power?

Send pitch details and we’ll confirm.

Will there be enough food?

We plan quantities from your guest numbers, timings and other courses, with a sensible margin. Give us accurate numbers for the best result.

Do you offer halal options?

Yes, on request. Let us know your halal numbers, and it is cooked separately.

What space do you need to cook?

A level space for the pans, burners and a serving table, in the open air or a ventilated covered area, and the venue’s permission for live cooking.

Festival paella catering in Mugswell, made fresh on the day

A paella stall covers several diets at once: meat, seafood and vegan pans side by side. That makes life easier for organisers. For race days and sports events and country shows, we’ll put together a menu of churros, seafood paella and chicken and chorizo paella and more.

In Mugswell, a paella pan suits street parties and school fairs, once permissions are sorted. We plan the timings around your day, so the paella is ready when you want to eat.

Live paella or other catering?

Hot-cabinet food lacks theatre. A giant pan cooking in view sells itself. If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we will suggest a menu to match. A simple menu can still feel generous.

Why us?

About the dishes

Chicken & chorizo paella

Popular with families.

Seafood paella

Prawns, mussels and squid.

Step by step

The paella is cooked in giant, shallow pans over gas burners. We need a level, ventilated spot, and we agree where that is before the day. At midsummer, events in Mugswell stay light until about 9:20pm, which helps evening trading. For winter markets, dark by about 3:55pm, the pitch needs lighting.

  1. Send the event name, expected visitors and pitch size.
  2. You get our stall menu and what we need on site.
  3. We send the documents the event asks for.
  4. On the day, the pans are on before the busiest hours.
  5. When trading ends, the pitch is cleared and left clean.

Preparing for the day

  • Tell us where to park and unload
  • Pick a flat, firm spot for us to cook

For planners, venues and organisers

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can plan ahead.

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: cooking areas, access times and documents. Send us your venue’s requirements and we will follow them.

Planning the cooking area

Before the day, we will agree where we cook. It needs to meet a few simple requirements:

  • Flat, firm ground
  • Your trader pack and site rules
  • A pitch big enough for the pans, burners and serving table

Mugswell is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking can be tight: let us know about permits, bays or off-street parking.

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Our caterer checklist

Should I cook it myself?

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the cooking.

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party cooking. Booking us means you get the show without the stress.

Diets, allergies and planning

Every guest is catered for, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal included. To get it right:

  • Book crew catering in advance
  • Make sure the line-up includes vegan and gluten-free options
  • Ask traders about packaging and waste
  • Make allergen information visible at every stall

If crew or volunteer meals are booked, they’re served at the agreed times.
