For planners, venues and organisers

Events in public spaces, like parks, typically need permission. We’ll provide any information the landowner or council asks for.

Booking for a company? Tell us what your finance team needs, and we will talk you through the process. We can work with your facilities team on access and timings.

Horncastle: your questions answered

Can you run a stall at a school fair in Horncastle?

Yes, with the school’s permission. Send us the date, pitch and expected numbers.

Can you cook in Calcot Park?

Only if the landowner, typically the council, allows it. Check with them, and we’ll provide our paperwork.

Who clears up?

Our cooking area is packed away and left clean. Ask us about table clearing if you need it.

Do you provide drinks?

We can make sangria, and we can staff a bar with your drinks.

Can you feed our volunteers?

Yes. Crew, volunteer and VIP catering is available, with or without a public stall.

What do you need at the venue?

Less than you might think: a level spot clear of fences, hedges and branches, with room for a serving table. Send us a photo if you are not sure.

Do you cater for vegetarian guests?

Yes. We cook vegetarian and vegan paellas in their own pans, alongside the meat and seafood pans.

Will there be enough food?

Pans are sized to your numbers and other courses. Let us know about any other food. See how much paella per person.

The process

We work to your timings. If things run behind, we adjust the cooking so it is still served fresh. At midsummer, events in Horncastle stay light until about 9:25pm, so evening trading generally finishes in daylight in high summer. For winter markets, dark by about 3:55pm, the pitch needs lighting.

  1. Organisers send us the event details, dates and pitch information.
  2. We confirm our menu, pitch needs and documents.
  3. We set up at the agreed time.
  4. The paella cooks in full view, and we serve from the pan through the event.
  5. At the end, we clear our pitch.

  • Details of power, water and waste arrangements

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.

  • Send traders one clear trader pack

If crew or volunteer meals are booked, they’re served at the agreed times.

What affects the price in Horncastle

Here’s what makes the biggest difference to the price:

  • The length of service
  • Travel, parking and access
  • The paellas you choose
  • How many courses

Live paella frequently compares well with a sit-down meal, as there’s no kitchen to hire and fewer staff to pay. Ask us for a quote.

What we need to know

When you contact us, it helps to tell us:

  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers
  • The courses you’d like
  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • Where the event is

Every event is quoted individually, so you only pay for what you need. For a quote, use our quote form.

DIY paella versus live catering

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party cooking. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, keep the stock hot, and leave the rice alone once it’s in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

Why live cooking beats a buffet

Food that sits in a hot cabinet is not much to look at. A giant pan cooking in view sells itself. Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so it helps to tell us about your venue. The full price is confirmed before booking.

Why us?

  • Fast service from the pan
  • A quote that spells everything out
  • Tapas, canapés and desserts if you want them
  • We cover Horncastle and the whole of Reading
