12 questions to ask before booking

DIY paella versus live catering

For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and handles separate pans for each diet.

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. Booking us means you get the show without the stress.

Your questions about festival paella catering in Hatchet Green

Is Hatchet Green too small for live paella?

No, we cook in small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and parking.

Can you run a stall at a school fair in Hatchet Green?

Yes, if the school is happy for us to cook on site. Send us the date, pitch and expected numbers.

Do you do starters?

Yes, it is the classic pairing. Tapas go out first, then the paella.

Do you cater for coeliacs?

We can cook a gluten-free paella in its own pan. Tell us about any coeliac guests when you book so we take the right care.

When do you arrive?

It depends on the menu and numbers. We’ll agree arrival, cooking and serving times with you.

Do you need power?

Tell us what’s available at the pitch and we will confirm what we need.

Can you serve drinks?

Sangria can be added, and provide bar staff to serve drinks you supply.

What about pudding?

We can add a dessert. Tell us what you have in mind in your enquiry.

What happens on the day

We take care of the food from set-up to service, so you can enjoy your event. If you’ve chosen tapas or canapés, they go out first as the rice is cooking. Summer events in Hatchet Green have daylight until about 9:25pm at midsummer and about 7:10pm by late September, which helps evening trading. Winter markets, dark by about 4:00pm, need a well-lit pitch.

  1. You send us the event, dates and pitch details.
  2. We confirm what we’ll serve, our pitch needs and any paperwork.
  3. We arrive at the agreed time to set up the pitch.
  4. Pans cook in full view and we serve throughout the event.
  5. We pack down and leave the pitch tidy.

Before we arrive

  • Pick a flat, firm spot for us to cook
  • Plan cover in case of rain
  • Make sure we can park close by to unload

What affects the price in Hatchet Green

There are no hidden charges: the price is based on:

  • Plates, cutlery and glassware
  • How many guests are eating
  • Travel, parking and access
  • Your choice of paellas

When you compare quotes, check what each one includes: staff, crockery, sides, travel and VAT. We itemise ours.

What we need to know

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what’s useful:

  • Which courses you have in mind
  • The address or venue name
  • A photo of the space, if you can
  • The date and time of the event

We quote for each event separately, so you only pay for what you need. To ask for one, fill in our quote form.

Dietary needs and planning tips

Few dishes handle mixed diets as well as paella, because each paella is cooked in its own pan. A few tips:

  • Put all trader information in one pack
  • Ask traders about serving speed at peak times
  • Plan for vegan and gluten-free visitors
  • Provide seating near the food

We set up at the agreed time, following your trader pack.

Catering for crew and VIP areas.

Paella compared with other options

Crew sandwiches are easy but dull. A hot paella keeps crew going. Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so it helps to tell us about your venue. The full price is confirmed before you book.
