About our festival paella catering in Colbury

The cooking is part of the show. People stop, watch and come back to eat. Typical bookings include food and music festivals and village fêtes, with seafood paella, vegan paella and churros.

Rural events near Colbury can be a long way from food outlets, so a paella stall is a welcome sight. We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, with each paella cooked in its own pan.

Live paella or other catering?

For crew catering, sandwiches are easy but uninspiring. A hot paella keeps crew going. The cost per head generally falls as numbers rise, since the set-up is much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we will quote.

What you get with us

  • Sangria, plus bar staff for your own drinks
  • Hot food served quickly from the pan
  • Real theatre, not just catering
  • Events in Colbury and across Hampshire

What happens on the day

On the day, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so the timing is planned around your event. Summer events in Colbury have daylight until about 9:25pm at midsummer and about 7:10pm by late September, which helps evening trading. For winter markets, dark by about 4:00pm, the pitch needs lighting.

  1. We check your dates.
  2. We agree what we’ll serve and where.
  3. We set up our burners and pans.
  4. The first pans are ready as visitors arrive.
  5. We serve, then pack down.

Getting ready for the day

  • Make sure the spot is clear of anything flammable
  • Arrange parking near the cooking spot
  • Pick a flat, firm spot for us to cook

How we price festival paella catering

Live paella pricing is straightforward once we know the basics:

  • Chicken, vegetable or premium seafood
  • How many staff you need
  • Starters, canapés and desserts
  • Plates, cutlery and glassware

When you compare quotes, check what each one includes: staff, crockery, sides, travel and VAT. Our quotes spell it all out.

What we need to know

To check availability and price, we need:

  • A picture of where we’d cook
  • The address or venue name
  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • The courses you’d like

To get a price, fill in our quote form. Give us the details of your event, and we will suggest paellas and extras to suit.

Planning for every diet

Few dishes handle mixed diets as well as paella, because each paella is cooked in its own pan. A few tips:

  • Feed crew and volunteers at set times
  • Check traders’ packaging and waste plans
  • Plan for vegan and gluten-free visitors
  • Put all trader information in one pack

Crew meals are served at set times.

Churros and tapas can join the menu.

Running an event in Colbury

Colbury is about 1 mile south of Totton, in Hampshire. We cater events at gardens, halls and venues around Colbury and nearby villages. Colbury is one of 683 places in Hampshire where we cook.

For a church fête or fundraiser, at a church such as Colbury Christ Church, a paella stall adds a hot meal to the cakes and tombola. For visitors coming by rail, Ashurst New Forest station is about 1.2 miles away. Events in and around the New Forest National Park, within about 4 miles of Colbury, often have rules about vehicles, ground and waste; we work to the site rules. With the sea within about 5 miles, we plan shelter from the wind for coastal events, and seafood paella sells well by the sea.

This part of Hampshire takes in SO40, so your event can be anywhere in it. Colbury: your questions answered

Can you run a stall at a school fair in Colbury?

Yes, if the school is happy for us to cook on site. Send us the date, pitch and expected numbers.

What about events near the coast?

Yes, with a sheltered cooking spot. Sea breezes cool the pan, so a windbreak, building or gazebo helps.

What does festival paella catering cost?

The price depends on numbers, menu, courses, staff and travel. Send us the details for a quote.

Can we add tapas or canapés?

Yes, and it is a popular combination. Tapas first, paella to follow.

Can you cook in the rain?

Rain doesn’t stop us, as long as there’s a ventilated cover. We will make a plan B with you.

Is halal food available?

We can. Tell us how many guests need halal food, and it is cooked separately.

Is the paella cooked on site?

Yes. We arrive with everything we need and cook on the day, then serve straight from the pan.

Can you do sangria?

Sangria can be added, and provide bar staff to serve drinks you supply.

Choosing a paella caterer

Working with your venue

Throwing a party at home? Send us a picture of the garden and tell us about access, and we will tell you honestly whether live paella will work.

Planners and coordinators can contact us directly, and we’ll keep everyone informed on the day.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles separate pans for each diet.

Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but you’ll still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. A caterer handles all of that.

  • Cooked live in giant pans at your event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
  • Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
  • Sangria, bar staff, crockery and waiting staff
