Wedding paella catering for your wedding in Southwick

A paella wedding makes mixed diets simple: every paella is cooked separately, so every guest gets a proper hot main. Typical bookings include farm and barn venues and evening wedding food, with evening paella, canapé tapas and Spanish desserts.

Weddings in a place like Southwick frequently feel personal: a local church, then a marquee in a garden or field. Paella cooked on the lawn suits that perfectly. Tell us about access to the field or garden. Timings are planned around your event, so the paella is ready when you want to eat.

Paella wedding breakfast

Paellas for every guest, served straight from the pan.

Should I cook it myself?

Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but you’ll still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. A caterer handles all of that.

You can cook paella for a crowd yourself, but it takes practice. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right for dozens of people takes experience. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.

Southwick: your questions answered

Can you cook at venues in the South Downs National Park?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules; ask your venue. We will follow the site rules.

What’s the nearest station to Southwick for guests?

Southwick station, in Southwick itself.

Can you cater the whole day?

We can cater as much or as little of the day as you like, from canapés to evening food.

Can you cook indoors?

Mostly outside or under an open cover, because we use gas burners. We’ll check whether your venue has a suitable space.

Do you cook it at the event?

Yes. Every paella is cooked from scratch on site, in front of your guests.

Do you cater for suppliers?

Just add them to your numbers. Let us know when they need feeding.

Can you supply plates?

Yes, on request. Crockery, cutlery and napkins, or good-quality disposables are available.

Can you do gluten-free paella?

A gluten-free pan is no problem. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance so we can plan it carefully.

What happens on the day

On the day, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so we time everything to your schedule. For a summer wedding in Southwick, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so an evening paella for evening guests is generally served in daylight in high summer. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it’s dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. Share your date, venue, numbers and plans for the day.
  2. Together we plan each course and confirm the price.
  3. Timings are agreed with you and the venue, around speeches and photos.
  4. On the day, we set up, cook in front of your guests and serve each course.
  5. We clear our cooking area, and staff stay as agreed.

How to prepare

  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day
  • Let us know the timings for the day
  • Plan cover in case of rain

Throwing a party at home? Send us a photo of the garden and tell us about access, and we’ll tell you honestly whether live paella will work.

What you get with us

  • Tapas, canapés and desserts if you want them
  • Drinks service on request
  • Waiting staff and crockery on request
  • Live cooking, not reheated food

What wedding paella catering costs

Every event is priced individually, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Travel, parking and access
  • The paellas you choose
  • How many staff you need
  • The length of service

Premium seafood costs more than chicken or vegetables, so the menu you choose affects the price. We’ll suggest options to suit your budget.

Getting an accurate quote

These details help us quote quickly:

  • Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
  • The address or venue name
  • A picture of the cooking space, if it’s a garden or field
  • Anything your venue supplies

Most quotes start with a few simple details: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. To send them, send us your details through our quote form.

Diets, allergies and planning

Allergies and diets are taken seriously. Help us by following these steps:

  • Count day and evening guests separately
  • Enquire early for peak dates
  • Let us know about meals for your band or photographer
  • Ask about diets and allergies with your RSVPs

The pans are often set up where guests can see them, and it makes a great photo.

Spanish desserts, or your own wedding cake, finish the meal.
