Wedding paella catering for Patching events

Wedding paella catering in Patching, made fresh on the day

Evening paella is a favourite: it’s hot, filling and quick to serve, so the party keeps going. On the menu are table tapas, canapé tapas and Spanish desserts, and we’re regularly asked to cater blessings and vow renewals and farm and barn venues.

There is something special about a country wedding near Patching, and an open-air paella adds to it. Plan access and cover in case of rain. We bring everything we need to cook, and pack down our cooking area when service is finished.

What we need at the venue

Every venue is different, so we ask about the space when you get in touch. In general, we need:

  • Access for unloading near the cooking spot
  • A separate open-sided gazebo if the meal is in a marquee
  • A level, firm spot for the burners and pans

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise before you book.

How the day works

From set-up to serving, we look after the food, so you are free to enjoy your wedding. Any tapas or canapés are served first while the paella cooks. For a summer wedding in Patching, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so an evening paella for evening guests is normally served in daylight in high summer. For autumn and winter weddings, when it’s dark by about 4:00pm in December, plan lighting for the cooking area.

  1. First, we check your date.
  2. You choose canapés, tapas, paellas and desserts.
  3. We confirm the plan with your coordinator.
  4. The pans cook while guests enjoy the drinks.
  5. We serve and clear our cooking area.

Planning help

Planning for every diet

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. Our advice:

  • Let us know about meals for your band or photographer
  • Send us the running order and speech times
  • Pick a serving style
  • Book early for summer Saturdays

Paella can be served at the pans or carried to the tables by staff.

Crockery, cutlery and waiting staff are available.

Planners, venues and businesses

If you are organising for someone else, whether you are a planner, an office manager or an event organiser, we will work directly with you and the venue. It saves passing messages back and forth.

Booking for a company? Tell us what your finance team needs, and we will explain how it works. We’re happy to liaise with facilities on access and timings.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, have hot stock ready, and do not stir once the rice goes in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the cooking.

Patching weddings: local tips

Patching is about 3 miles north-west of Worthing, in West Sussex. With the South Downs National Park within about 6 miles, there are country venues, barns and gardens nearby. Check vehicle access and cooking rules with the venue. With the coast within about 5 miles, a seafood paella suits a seaside-style wedding. We will plan shelter from sea breezes.

How we price wedding paella catering

Every event is priced individually, based on a few main things:

  • Timings and hours
  • Crockery and cutlery, or disposables
  • Starters, canapés and desserts
  • Travel, parking and access

Tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are optional extras, so you can choose exactly what you need.

Details that help

Here’s what makes a quick, accurate quote possible:

  • A picture of the cooking space, if it is a garden or field
  • Whether the venue has crockery or staff
  • Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
  • The date and rough timings

We need only a few details to quote: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. To send them, send us your details through our quote form.

Patching questions

Could we have live paella in Clapham Wood?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, normally the council. Ask them first, and we will send any information they need.

Can you cook at venues in the South Downs National Park?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and cooking, so check with yours. We’ll follow the site rules.

Do you do canapés and evening food too?

We can. Canapé tapas, table tapas, a paella wedding breakfast, evening food and desserts, or any part of that.

Can you do sangria?

Sangria can be added, and provide bar staff to serve drinks you supply.

Do you provide plates and cutlery?

Yes, if you need them. Let us know what you have, and we will quote for the rest.

Do you do vegan paella?

Yes. We cook vegetarian and vegan paellas in their own pans.

How long does the paella take?

That depends on your menu and numbers. We’ll agree arrival, cooking and serving times with you so the paella is ready when you want it.

What space do you need to cook?

Not a lot: a flat spot away from anything flammable, with space to serve. Send us a photo if you’re not sure.

Live paella or other catering?

If you are weighing up paella against a traditional menu, think about your venue, your guests’ diets and the feel of the day. If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we’ll put together a menu that fits. Even a simple menu can be a feast.
