Live wedding paella catering in Anthill Common

About our wedding paella catering in Anthill Common

We can do the whole day or just one part: canapé tapas with the drinks, table tapas, paella for the wedding breakfast, evening food and desserts. For vow renewals and civil ceremonies and spanish-themed and destination-style weddings, we will put together a menu of evening paella, Spanish desserts and canapé tapas and more.

A wedding in a small place like Anthill Common often means a field, a barn or a family garden. That’s exactly where live paella shines: no kitchen, just a level, sheltered spot. Tell us about lanes, gates and ground conditions. We serve straight from the pan, so it is hot and generous, and a queue moves quickly.

The process

When we arrive, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so we time everything to your schedule. In Anthill Common, midsummer sunset is about 9:20pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:10pm, so an evening paella for evening guests is normally served in daylight in high summer. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it’s dark by about 4:00pm.

  1. You tell us your date, venue, guest numbers and how you picture the day.
  2. Together we plan each course and confirm the price.
  3. Timings are agreed with you and the venue, around speeches and photos.
  4. On the day we set up, cook live and serve each course as planned.
  5. Afterwards we clear our area; any staff you’ve booked stay as planned.

Prices and what affects them

Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, depending on:

  • Starters, canapés and desserts
  • Timings and hours
  • Crockery and cutlery, or disposables
  • Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff

Tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are optional extras, so you only pay for what you want.

What we need to know

Good planning starts with a few facts. Please include:

  • A picture of where we’d cook
  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • Anything your venue supplies

We quote for each event separately, so you only pay for what you need. For a quote, fill in our quote form.

The menu, dish by dish

Table tapas

Tapas set out on every table to share, from bravas to croquetas and Manchego.

Evening paella

Evening paella is hot, filling and fun.

Is live paella right for your wedding?

Choosing between paella and a traditional menu?, consider your venue, diets and the style you want. There’s no one-size-fits-all price for live paella. A simple paella lunch costs less than a wedding with canapés, three paellas and waiting staff. We itemise everything in your quote.

Anthill Common questions

Which station should guests use for Anthill Common?

The closest is Portchester station, roughly 4.6 miles away.

Do you come out to small places like Anthill Common?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and parking.

Can you cook halal paella?

Yes, we do. Halal paella is cooked with halal chicken and no pork or alcohol, in its own pan.

Do you cater for vegetarian guests?

Yes, and they’re popular with everyone. Each is cooked separately, with its own stock and utensils.

Can we add tapas or canapés?

Yes, it is the classic pairing. Tapas go out first, then the paella.

Do you provide plates and cutlery?

We can. Let us know what you have, and we’ll quote for the rest.

When do you arrive?

We arrive well before serving to set up and start the stock. The rice itself takes about 20 minutes, and we time it to your schedule.

Do you cook inside?

Typically we cook outdoors or under a ventilated cover, because we use gas burners. Some venues have suitable spaces; we’ll check with you and the venue.

Diets, allergies and planning

With a little notice, every diet is easy. Our advice:

  • Tell us about suppliers who need feeding
  • Tell us how many evening guests to expect
  • Ask about diets and allergies with your RSVPs
  • Decide whether guests queue at the pans or are served at the tables

We keep in touch with your venue coordinator or toastmaster on the day, so you don’t have to.

Spanish desserts, or your own wedding cake, finish the meal.

For planners, venues and organisers

Throwing a party at home? Send a photo of the space and tell us about parking, and we’ll let you know if live paella is a good fit.

For big numbers, we plan pans and serving points to keep queues short, so guests are fed quickly. Let us know how long the food break is.

DIY paella versus live catering

Weighing up DIY against a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. We’re happy to give you a quote to compare.

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the cooking.

What we need at the venue

No two venues are the same, so we’ll ask about yours when you get in touch. In general, we need:

  • A separate open-sided gazebo if the meal is in a marquee
  • Parking close enough to carry equipment
  • Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls

Not sure about your space? Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly.
