Organising for someone else?

Hosting a party at home? Send us a photo of the garden and tell us about access, and we’ll let you know if live paella is a good fit.

If you are organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a festival organiser, we’re happy to deal with you and the venue directly. It keeps things simple.

What affects the price in Hoo St Werburgh

Each event is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:

  • Distance and access to the venue
  • Timings and hours
  • How many guests are eating
  • How many staff you need

Comparing caterers? Look at what each quote includes: staff, crockery, bread and salads, travel and VAT. We itemise ours.

Getting an accurate quote

For a quote, it helps to have:

  • A photo of the space, if you can
  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • The date and rough timings
  • What the venue already provides

It is easy to get a price: tell us the date, place, numbers and any dietary needs. We will send a clear, itemised quote and a suggested menu.

FAQs for Hoo St Werburgh

We are having a ceremony at Church of St Werburgh: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is generally elsewhere. Tell us where the reception will be.

What’s the nearest station to Hoo St Werburgh for guests?

Gillingham (Kent) station, about 2.7 miles south of the centre.

Can we have tapas without paella?

Absolutely, for receptions, parties and evening food.

Do you have a kids’ option?

Children are welcome. Tell us how many and roughly how old, and we will plan for them.

Do you cover Hoo St Werburgh?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, and Hoo St Werburgh is within our area and the rest of Medway. For a quote, send us your details through our quote form.

Do you take everything away?

We take our equipment and leave the cooking area tidy. Ask us about table clearing if you need it.

Is it really cooked live?

It is. We bring the pans, burners and fresh ingredients and cook on the day, serving it hot from the pan.

Are the tapas served hot?

We finish hot dishes on site; cold ones go out as guests arrive.

Our caterer checklist

DIY paella versus live catering

Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but you will still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. A caterer handles all of that.

Not sure whether to cook yourself or book a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. Ask us for a quote and compare.

Is live paella right for your event?

Sandwich buffets are forgettable. Tapas feel special. Tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are optional extras, so you only pay for what you want.

Why Hoo St Werburgh hosts choose us

  • No hidden extras in your quote
  • Real theatre, not just catering
  • Separate pans for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests
  • Everything cooked fresh at your event

See Our pricing And Our guide to catering costs.

Step by step

The paella is cooked in giant, shallow pans over gas burners. We need a level, ventilated spot, which we agree with you beforehand. A summer drinks reception in Hoo St Werburgh has daylight until about 9:20pm at midsummer, ideal for tapas in the garden. By late September it’s dark around 7:00pm, and in December by about 3:50pm.

  1. We check your date.
  2. You choose canapés, table tapas or both.
  3. We arrive and set up our station.
  4. Hot and cold tapas are served.
  5. We clear away at the end.

Before we arrive

  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
  • Give us a contact for the day
  • Give us your final numbers and diets
