Live paella across PO14

Paella catering across PO14

Paella was made for feeding a crowd: cooked outdoors in a wide, shallow pan and shared. That is what we bring to events in PO14. Typical bookings include big birthdays and weddings, from canapés to evening food, serving paella Valenciana, black rice and seafood paella.

The paella is cooked in giant, shallow pans over gas burners. We need a level, ventilated spot, and we agree where that is before the day.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and any dietary needs.
  2. We suggest a menu and confirm a quote, including what’s included.
  3. We arrive early, set up the cooking area and start the stock.
  4. Your guests watch the paella cook, with any tapas served first.
  5. We serve from the pan, then clear our cooking area away.

What it costs in PO14

Live paella pricing depends on the event. A garden party lunch and a full wedding menu are very different jobs. Your quote spells it all out.

How to get a price

The quickest way to a quote is to send us your details through our quote form. Give us the details of your event, and we will suggest paellas and extras to suit.

What’s near Stubbington

Events here are frequently close to The Osborne View pub, Stubbington House School and Crofton Anne Dale Junior School, among other places. You will also find Holy Rood Church (within half a mile east) and Crofton School (0.6 miles east). The closest station to Stubbington is Fareham station, roughly 2.3 miles north-east of the centre. A little further out are Gosport War Memorial Hospital (3.7 miles south-east) and Carron Row Farm Museum (2.5 miles north). Not far away are West of the River Alver.

Catering events across PO14

PO14 covers everything from Fareham, Stubbington and Locks Heath to 8 small villages and hamlets, and live paella works in all of them. Town events mean planning parking; village events mean planning access. 16 of the places we cover in PO14 are within about 6 miles of the sea, so we often plan a sheltered cooking spot for the wind.

Stubbington: If you are celebrating after a service at a church like Holy Rood Church, live paella at a garden or venue nearby works well. For guests coming by train, Fareham station is about 2.3 miles away. In Stubbington, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it is dark by about 4:00pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

DIY paella versus live catering

Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but there is shopping, prep and hours of cooking. We take care of all of it.

Weighing up DIY against a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. We’re happy to give you a quote to compare.

What’s in the pans

Black rice

Black rice looks dramatic and tastes of the sea, and is popular with adventurous guests.

Seafood paella

Prawns, mussels and squid in a rich fish stock, cooked until the rice is golden. It is generally the most photographed pan.

Before you choose a spot

No two venues are the same, so we ask about the space when you get in touch. In general, we need:

  • Agreement from the venue or landowner to cook on site
  • Access for unloading near the cooking spot
  • A safe distance from anything that could catch

Planners, venues and businesses

If you are booking for a business, tell us how you’d like to handle the booking and payment, and we’ll talk you through the process. We’re happy to liaise with facilities on access and timings.

Events in public spaces, like parks, generally need permission. We can send whatever the landowner or council needs from us.

Catering for every guest

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. Our advice:

  • Request clear labels at the serving table
  • Let us know about other food at the event
  • Tell us how many children are coming
  • Choose two or three paellas so every guest has a choice

Paella is best eaten as soon as it is ready, so we plan service for when guests are ready to eat.

Spanish desserts such as churros or crema catalana finish the meal.

PO14 questions

Do you take everything away?

We pack down our cooking area after service. Clearing guests’ plates and tables can be added with waiting staff.

Can you bring crockery?

If you need them, yes. Crockery, cutlery and napkins, or good-quality disposables can be added to your booking.

Can you serve tapas as well?

Yes, it’s the classic pairing. Tapas go out first, then the paella.

What is live paella catering?

We arrive with pans, burners and ingredients, cook while everyone watches, and serve when you are ready to eat.

Does paella work for big events?

Very much so. We size pans and serving points to your guest list.

Can you cook in the rain?

We need a covered spot, such as a gazebo, marquee or open-sided barn with good ventilation. We will agree a wet-weather plan with you.

Should we have more than one paella?

Generally two or three, so every guest has a choice. Tell us about your guests’ diets and we’ll suggest the mix.

  • Cooked live in giant pans at your event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
  • Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
