Paella catering in ME11: what to expect

Keep it simple, or go all out: just paella, or paella with tapas, desserts and drinks. We will suggest what suits your event. We cook seafood paella, paella Valenciana and mixed paella, and typical bookings are for company summer parties and weddings, from canapés to evening food.

We arrive in good time before you want to eat, set up the cooking area and get the stock going. Your guests are welcome to watch while it cooks.

  1. Contact us with the basics: when, where and how many.
  2. Expect a menu idea and a clear, itemised price.
  3. Closer to the day, we confirm timings and the cooking spot.
  4. We set up, cook from scratch and keep an eye on your timings.
  5. Guests are served from the pan, and our area is cleared afterwards.

Landmarks near Queenborough

Events here are frequently close to Parish Church of the Holy Trinity, Oasis Academy Isle of Sheppey and Queen Phillippa pub and the streets around them. There’s a railway station in Queenborough itself: Queenborough station, handy for guests travelling by train. A little further out are Queenborough Guildhall Museum (under half a mile north-west) and Castle Rough (3.7 miles south).

Catering events across ME11

From Queenborough and Rushenden to 1 villages and hamlets, events across ME11 range from town-centre venues to gardens and fields, and live paella works in all of them. In towns, plan parking and access; in villages, tell us about lanes and ground.

Queenborough: If you are organising a summer fair for a school like Queenborough School and Nursery, a paella stall is a crowd-pleaser. For a christening or wedding at a church such as Parish Church of the Holy Trinity, a paella lunch or reception nearby is an easy way to feed everyone. Evenings in Queenborough stay light until about 9:15pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:00pm; once it’s dark, we need light to cook and serve by.

Catering for every guest

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. Our advice:

  • Put allergy details in writing
  • Plan a meat, a seafood and a vegetable or vegan pan
  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically
  • Let us know about other food at the event

On the day, you shouldn’t have to think about the food. We set up, cook and serve, and keep in touch with you or your venue about timings.

Bread, salad and lemon wedges make the meal go further and suit guests who are not big rice eaters.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.

For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles separate pans for each diet.

Working with your venue

For larger events, we plan the number of pans and serving points around your timings, so guests are fed quickly. Let us know how long the food break is.

Planners and coordinators can contact us directly, and we’ll keep everyone informed on the day.

Who books paella catering?

Paella is one of the few dishes that handles mixed diets easily, thanks to separate pans for each version. Nobody gets a token ‘special meal’.

Live paella suits almost any gathering. In ME11, people book us for occasions like:

  • Fairs, fêtes and festivals
  • Christenings and family gatherings
  • Weddings and evening receptions
  • Birthday celebrations

About the dishes

Seafood paella

Seafood paella starts with a good fish and shellfish stock. Shellfish goes in towards the end so it stays tender.

Black rice

Arroz negro is coloured and flavoured with squid ink, and is normally served with alioli. It’s a striking addition to a seafood menu.

ME11 questions

When should we book?

As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Even if it is short notice, it’s worth asking.

When do you arrive?

We arrive well before serving to set up and start the stock. The rice itself takes about 20 minutes, and we time it to your schedule.

Is the paella cooked on site?

Yes. Every paella is cooked from scratch on site, where your guests can watch.

What happens if it rains?

We cook under cover, like a gazebo or open-sided marquee. We’ll agree a wet-weather plan with you.

What equipment do you bring?

Pans, burners and ingredients all come with us. You provide a suitable spot and access.

Do you provide plates and cutlery?

If you need them, yes. Proper crockery or quality disposables are available.

Can you do gluten-free paella?

We can cook a gluten-free paella in its own pan. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance so we can plan it carefully.

  • Cooked live in giant pans at your event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
  • Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
