Paella party catering near Smeeth

Catering for every guest

Few dishes handle mixed diets as well as paella, because every paella has its own pan. Here are a few tips for planning:

  • Plan where rubbish goes
  • Let the neighbours know
  • Count adults and children separately
  • Keep a clear zone around the cooking area

Children love watching the paella cook.

Add bread, salad and lemon.

What happens on the day

We take care of the food from set-up to service, so you can enjoy your party. If you’ve chosen tapas or canapés, they go out first while the paella cooks. A summer party in Smeeth stays light until about 9:15pm at midsummer, so a garden party can run well into the evening. By late September sunset is around 7:00pm, so plan festoon lights for later parties.

  1. First, we check the date and the space.
  2. You choose your paellas and any extras.
  3. We set up the burners and start the sofrito.
  4. The rice goes in and your guests gather round.
  5. It is served hot, and we clear away afterwards.

Smeeth questions

Can you cook at venues in the Kent Downs National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules; ask your venue. We’ll follow the site rules.

How far is Smeeth from London?

Roughly 53 miles from the centre of London, and well within our area.

Do you come to Smeeth?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, and Smeeth is within our area and the rest of Kent. For a quote, fill in our quote form.

Does it make a lot of smoke?

Paella is cooked over gas, so there is cooking steam and smell but little smoke. Neighbours may well want an invitation.

Do you cook it at the event?

It is. We bring the pans, burners and fresh ingredients and cook on the day, serving it hot from the pan.

Can you cook in my back garden?

Many gardens work. We need level ground, clearance and access. A photo helps.

Do you offer halal options?

Yes, on request. Let us know your halal numbers, and we will cook a separate pan.

Can you supply plates?

We can. Let us know and we will add it to the quote.

Planning the cooking area

Safety and good cooking both depend on the spot we use. We need:

  • Parking close enough to carry equipment
  • Agreement from the venue or landowner to cook on site
  • Good ventilation: outdoors, or an open-sided cover

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise before you book.

Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?

Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it is harder than it looks. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right for dozens of people takes experience. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.

Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, keep the stock hot, and leave the rice alone once it’s in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.

Is live paella right for your party?

Hog roasts do not suit vegetarians and vegans. Separate paella pans cover everyone. Live paella often compares well with a sit-down meal, as there’s no kitchen to hire and fewer staff to pay. We will send you a quote.
