The High Weald National Landscape is within about 7 miles of Newtown, so a garden party here comes with a lovely backdrop.

Dietary needs and planning tips
Most events have a mix of diets. To cater well for them:
- Collect dietary needs with your invites
- Plan where rubbish goes
- Have enough chairs for most guests
- Arrange a gazebo in case of rain
After service, we pack down, so the party carries on.
Tapas to start keep guests happy.
About the dishes
Vegetable paella
A proper vegetable paella, not an afterthought, with peppers, beans and artichokes.
Chicken & chorizo paella
Chicken and chorizo is a crowd-pleaser, though it is not traditional in Valencia.

DIY paella versus live catering
Not sure whether to cook yourself or book a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. We’re happy to give you a quote to compare.
Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, keep the stock hot, and do not stir once the rice goes in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.
Why live cooking beats a buffet
For a party that feels a little special without being formal, live paella fits perfectly. Got a budget? Let us know, and we’ll suggest a menu to match. A simple menu can still feel generous.

The process
It’s a relaxed, well-organised set-up. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, set up our cooking area, and get on with cooking and serving. A summer party in Newtown stays light until about 9:20pm at midsummer, which gives a garden party a long evening. By late September sunset is around 7:05pm, so plan festoon lights for later parties.
- Send us the date, the address, numbers and diets.
- We suggest paellas and extras and send a quote.
- On the day, we set up and get cooking.
- Your guests watch the paella cook, with tapas first if you’ve chosen them.
- We serve from the pan and clear our cooking area away when we’re done.
How to prepare
- Share the running order, including any speeches
- Ensure the spot is clear of anything flammable
- Get the venue’s permission for cooking
