For planners, venues and organisers

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: where cooking is allowed, access times and the paperwork they need. Send us your venue’s requirements and we will follow them.

For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can plan ahead.

Parties in Hunton: gardens, venues and local tips

Hunton is about 4 miles south-west of Maidstone, in Kent. Wherever your party is in the ME15 area, we’ll come to your venue or garden. Hunton is one of 922 places in Kent where we cook. You can also see our page for Canterbury, about 27 miles away.

Christenings and naming days frequently start at a local church such as St Mary's Church, with a paella lunch at home or in a hall afterwards. Parks such as Quarry Wood usually need permission for cooking, so a garden or hired venue is frequently easier.

Wherever your party is in ME15, we can bring paella party catering to you, from busy streets to quiet lanes. From West Street, Bensted Close and Bishop's Lane or a nearby road, we’ll bring the pans to you. Neighbouring places where we cater parties include Benover (1 mile west), Yalding (1 mile north-west), Congelow (1 mile west), Chainhurst (1 mile south-east) and Laddingford (2 miles west). We also cook in nearby towns such as Maidstone (4 miles north-east), Sittingbourne (15 miles north-east), Sevenoaks (13 miles west), Royal Tunbridge Wells (10 miles south-west), Gravesend (15 miles north) and Tonbridge (8 miles west).

A little further out are Teapot Island (1.8 miles west) and Oakwood Hospital (3.7 miles north).

Catering for every guest

With a little notice, every diet is easy. We suggest:

  • Warn the neighbours
  • Ensure most people can sit to eat
  • Ask guests about diets when you invite them
  • Tell us how many children are coming

We are set up before guests arrive, so the cooking is under way as people arrive.

Churros and chocolate go down well with all ages.

FAQs for Hunton

Can you cook in Quarry Wood?

Only if the landowner, typically the council, allows it. Ask them first, and we’ll send any information they need.

Can you cater a reception after a service at St Mary's Church?

Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is usually elsewhere. Send us the reception address.

How much space do you need?

A level space for the pans, burners and a serving table, in the open air or a ventilated covered area, plus the venue’s agreement to cooking.

Is it really cooked live?

Yes, always. Every paella is cooked from scratch on site, in front of your guests.

Is the paella gluten-free?

We can, if you tell us in advance. Rice is naturally gluten-free, but stock and some ingredients may not be, so we make a separate gluten-free pan.

Where do you cater?

We cater across London and the South East, including Kent. See all areas.

Should we have more than one paella?

Normally two or three, so every guest has a choice. Tell us about your guests’ diets and we’ll suggest the mix.

When do you arrive?

It depends on the menu and numbers. We’ll agree arrival, cooking and serving times with you so the paella is ready when you want it.

Prices and what affects them

These are the factors that matter most:

  • Your choice of paellas
  • Whether you need crockery
  • Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff
  • Starters, canapés and desserts

Comparing caterers? Look at what each quote includes: staff, crockery, sides, travel and VAT. Our quotes spell it all out.

Getting an accurate quote

When you contact us, it helps to tell us:

  • A photo of the space, if you can
  • The courses you’d like
  • The venue or postcode
  • Anything your venue supplies

Every quote is put together for your event. Tell us your date and guest numbers, and we will confirm whether we’re available that day.

What we need at the venue

We will be honest if a space won’t work, and help find another spot. The main points are:

  • A level, firm spot for the burners and pans
  • Clearance from fences, hedges, branches and anything flammable
  • Good ventilation: outdoors, or an open-sided cover

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise.

How it works

When we arrive, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so we time everything to your schedule. At midsummer, it is light in Hunton until about 9:15pm, which gives a garden party a long evening. In late September it’s dark by about 7:00pm; add lights for the evening.

  1. We check your date and the space.
  2. You choose your paellas and any extras.
  3. The burners go on and the sofrito starts.
  4. In goes the rice, and guests gather.
  5. We serve hot and tidy our area afterwards.

Preparing for the day

  • Check the venue allows live cooking
  • Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time
  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
