How to compare caterers

Paella party catering in Hensting, cooked live

Paella is relaxed food: served from the pan, shared and enjoyed, so nobody needs a formal seating plan. On the menu are mixed paella, vegetable paella and tapas, and we are frequently booked for family reunions and wakes and memorial gatherings.

Near Hensting, parties are frequently in gardens or fields. Tell us about lanes and parking, and we’ll plan the set-up. We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, with each paella cooked in its own pan.

Seafood paella

Seafood paella usually gets the photos, and is best served with lemon.

Tapas

A few tapas set the scene while they watch the pans.

What happens on the day

We work to your timings. If speeches run late or the photos take longer, we adjust the cooking so it is still served fresh. A summer party in Hensting stays light until about 9:25pm at midsummer, so a garden party can run well into the evening. In late September it’s dark by about 7:10pm; add lights for the evening.

  1. We check your date and the space.
  2. You choose your paellas and any extras.
  3. We set up the burners and start the sofrito.
  4. In goes the rice, and guests gather.
  5. It’s served hot, and we clear away afterwards.

Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?

Not sure whether to cook yourself or book a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. We are happy to give you a quote to compare.

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.

Why live cooking beats a buffet

For a party that feels a little special without being formal, live paella is hard to beat. Live paella pricing depends on the event. A garden party lunch and a full wedding menu are very different jobs. Your quote spells it all out.

Why Hensting hosts choose us

  • Drinks service on request
  • A clear, itemised quote
  • Real theatre, not just catering
  • Crockery and waiting staff if you need them

Diets, allergies and planning

Most events have a mix of diets. To plan for them:

  • Count adults and children separately
  • Arrange a gazebo in case of rain
  • Have bins ready
  • Ensure children stay back from the pans

Booked staff help serve and clear so you can relax.

Plates, cutlery and waiting staff can be added.

Hensting: your questions answered

Can you cater a reception after a service at Church of the Holy Trinity?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is generally elsewhere. Tell us where the reception will be.

Is Hensting too small for live paella?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and parking.

Can you supply plates?

We can. Tell us what you need and we’ll include it in the quote.

Do you cater in Hensting?

Yes, we do. Hensting is one of the places we cover. Send us your date to check availability.

Do you take everything away?

We take our equipment and leave the cooking area tidy. Ask us about table clearing if you need it.

Do you do desserts?

Yes. Spanish desserts such as churros or crema catalana.

Is the paella gluten-free?

We can, if you tell us in advance. The rice is gluten-free, but stocks and chorizo can contain gluten, so we make a separate gluten-free pan.

How many different paellas?

Most events have two or three: meat or mixed, seafood, and vegetable or vegan. We’ll help you decide the split.

What paella party catering costs

Each event is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:

  • Your choice of paellas
  • Timings and hours
  • Crockery and cutlery, or disposables
  • Distance and access to the venue

The price depends on your guest numbers, the menu and how many courses you choose, plus any staff, crockery and travel. Every event gets its own quote.

Details that help

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what to include:

  • The address or venue name
  • A picture of the cooking space, if it is a garden or field
  • The courses you’d like
  • Any dietary needs and allergies

It is easy to get a price: tell us the date, place, numbers and any dietary needs. We’ll come back with a clear quote and a suggested menu.
