Paella party catering in Guston, made fresh on the day

The smell of paella cooking is the best party invitation. People drift over with a drink to watch it cook. We cook churros, mixed paella and vegetable paella, and typical bookings are for neighbourhood celebrations and christenings and naming days.

Country parties near Guston suit live paella: cooked outside, served from the pan. Plan a gazebo in case of rain. Each paella is cooked from scratch on the day, not reheated, and served the moment it’s ready.

DIY paella versus live catering

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, have hot stock ready, and don’t stir once the rice goes in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.

Common questions in Guston

What about events near the coast?

Yes, as long as we can shelter from the wind. Wind is the main issue on the coast, so we plan shelter.

Is Guston too small for live paella?

No, we cook in small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and parking.

Do you cover Guston?

We do. We cook at events in Guston and across Kent. Tell us your date and we will check availability.

Do you cater for coeliacs?

A gluten-free pan is no problem. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance so we take the right care.

Do you bring plates and cutlery?

On request. Crockery or disposables are available.

How much is live paella catering?

Every event is quoted individually, so you only pay for what you need. Give us your date, numbers and menu ideas and we’ll reply with a price.

Can you cater at a hired venue?

Yes, if there is a suitable outdoor or ventilated spot to cook. Ask the venue about live cooking.

When should I book?

As early as you can for summer weekends, which fill up first. Ask about your date.

Events we cater in Guston

One big dish is simpler than lots of small ones.

Whatever the occasion, paella can be the star of the food. We regularly cater:

  • Neighbourhood celebrations
  • Naming days and christenings
  • Celebrations of life
  • Family reunions

Christenings and naming days frequently start at a local church such as Church of St Martin of Tours, with a paella lunch at home or in a hall afterwards.

Guston parties: what to know

Guston is about 2 miles north-east of Dover, in Kent. Whether your party is in the middle of Guston or on the outskirts, paella party catering works the same way: paella cooked live, every diet catered for and a clear quote. Guston is one of 922 towns and villages in Kent we cover. We cook right across the region, from Guston to Canterbury (14 miles away).

Thinking of a party in Connaught Park? Cooking in a public park typically needs permission from the council or landowner, so check first. If guests are coming by rail, the nearest station is Martin Mill station, about 1.6 miles north-east. The coast is within about 3 miles, so seafood paella frequently features, and we always plan for wind.

Anywhere in CT15, we can cook for your guests, from busy streets to quiet lanes. That could mean a party in a garden on The Street, Chance Meadow and The Lane or the roads around them. Close by, we cover parties in East Langdon (1 mile north-east), Church Whitfield (1 mile north-west), West Cliffe (1 mile east), Martin Mill (2 miles north-east) and Charlton-in-Dover (2 miles south-west). Further out, we also cater in Canterbury (14 miles north-west), Folkestone (8 miles south-west), Ramsgate (13 miles north), Broadstairs (15 miles north), Deal (5 miles north-east) and Hythe (12 miles south-west).

Other landmarks nearby include Royal Victoria Hospital (1.9 miles south) and Dover Castle (1.8 miles south). The countryside around Guston includes Dover Western Heights.

  • Schools near Guston include Guston Church of England Primary School (1.1 miles south) and St Edmund's Catholic School (1.4 miles south-west)
  • Nearby, you’ll find Swingate Inn (0.8 miles south-east)

Planning for every diet

We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests. To get it right:

  • Keep a clear zone around the cooking area
  • Have enough chairs for most guests
  • Warn the neighbours
  • Count adults and children separately

We arrive before your guests to set up, so the cooking is under way as people arrive.

Plates, cutlery and waiting staff can be added.

Before you choose a spot

We cook in large pans over gas burners, so the cooking area needs a little planning. Here’s what we look for:

  • Somewhere close to park and unload
  • A safe distance from anything that could catch
  • Outdoor space or a ventilated gazebo

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before you book.

Popular choices

  • Paella Valenciana
  • Mixed paella
  • Tapas
  • Vegetable paella
  • Seafood paella
  • Churros
  • Chicken & chorizo paella

The process

We get there well before serving, unload, set up the burners and prepare the stock. Your guests are welcome to watch while it cooks. At midsummer, it’s light in Guston until about 9:15pm, which gives a garden party a long evening. By late September sunset is around 7:00pm, so plan festoon lights for later parties.

  1. First, we check the date and the space.
  2. You choose your paellas and any extras.
  3. We set up the burners and start the sofrito.
  4. In goes the rice, and guests gather.
  5. We serve hot and tidy our area afterwards.

How to prepare

  • Check the venue allows live cooking
  • Name one person we can ask on the day
  • Arrange a covered spot for wet weather
