How our paella party catering works in Dippenhall

Homes, gardens, clubs and hired venues all work. We are often asked to cater summer garden parties and street and neighbourhood parties, serving seafood paella, mixed paella and tapas.

Near Dippenhall, parties are often in gardens or fields. Tell us about lanes and parking, and we will handle the rest. The paella is served straight from the pan, so it’s hot and generous, and a queue moves quickly.

DIY paella versus live catering

Weighing up DIY against a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. Ask us for a quote and compare.

A DIY paella party works for small groups. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.

Dippenhall: your questions answered

Could we have live paella in Underdown nature reserve?

Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Ask them first, and we’ll send any information they need.

Can you cater a reception after a service at St Francis?

Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is typically elsewhere. Send us the reception address.

What if the weather’s bad?

Rain doesn’t stop us, as long as there is a ventilated cover. We will make a plan B with you.

How many different paellas?

Two or three covers most guests. We’ll recommend a mix based on diets.

Can you bring crockery?

Yes, on request. Proper crockery or quality disposables are available.

Do you bring plates and cutlery?

If you need them. Crockery or disposables can be added.

How do you work out quantities?

Quantities depend on numbers, timing and courses, with a sensible margin. Accurate numbers help.

Can the paella be cooked in a hall?

Indoors only where ventilation and the venue allow it. Most events have us cooking outside or in a doorway or courtyard.

Dippenhall parties: what to know

Dippenhall is about 2 miles west of Farnham, in Surrey. Tell us where your party in Dippenhall will be, and we will plan the journey and set-up. Dippenhall is one of 395 towns and villages in Surrey we cover. Our events stretch from Dippenhall to Guildford (11 miles away).

Christenings and naming days often start at a local church such as St Francis, with a paella lunch at home or in a hall afterwards. Parks such as Underdown nature reserve generally need permission for cooking, so a garden or hired venue is frequently easier.

We cook at parties all over the GU10 postcode area and the streets around it. If your venue is just outside Dippenhall, we also cover Dora's Green (1 mile north), Warren Corner (2 miles north), Hog Hatch (2 miles north-east), Redlands (2 miles north-west) and Crondall (2 miles north-west). We also cook in nearby towns such as Guildford (11 miles east), Woking (13 miles north-east), Camberley (9 miles north-east), Frimley (8 miles north-east), Haslemere (10 miles south-east) and Ash (5 miles north-east).

Nearby you’ll also find Fleet Community Hospital (5.1 miles north) and Powderham Castle (0.8 miles west). Not far away are Farnham Park and Beacon Hill.

  • Nearby schools include Weydon School (1.2 miles south-east) and Weydon School (1.2 miles south-east)

Planning for every diet

Nearly every event has some special diets. To cater well for them:

  • Ask guests about diets when you invite them
  • Tell us how many children are coming
  • Give the neighbours a heads-up
  • Keep children and pets away from the burners

After service, we pack down, so the party carries on.

Tapas and nibbles while the paella cooks keep guests happy.

Before you choose a spot

No two venues are the same, so we will ask about yours before we confirm. Generally, we look for:

  • Flat, firm ground for the cooking area
  • Parking close enough to carry equipment
  • Outdoor space or a ventilated gazebo

Not sure about your space? Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly.

Popular choices

  • Tapas
  • Mixed paella

The process

We get there well before serving, set up the cooking area and get the stock going. Your guests are welcome to watch as the paella takes shape. At midsummer, it’s light in Dippenhall until about 9:20pm, which gives a garden party a long evening. By late September sunset is around 7:05pm, so plan festoon lights for later parties.

  1. We check your date and the space.
  2. You pick paellas, tapas and desserts.
  3. The burners go on and the sofrito starts.
  4. In goes the rice, and guests gather.
  5. It is served hot, and we clear away afterwards.

Before we arrive

  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
  • Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time
  • Name one person we can ask on the day
