Paella catering in The Wrythe

Prices and what affects them

Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, depending on:

  • Your choice of paellas
  • Parking and unloading
  • Plates, cutlery and glassware
  • How many staff you need

Got a budget? Let us know, and we will suggest a menu to match. A simple menu can still feel generous.

What we need to know

For a quote, it helps to have:

  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
  • A photo of the space, if you can
  • Anything your venue supplies

Getting a quote is simple: share your date, venue, numbers and diets. We’ll send a clear, itemised quote and a suggested menu.

Paella catering in The Wrythe, cooked live

One cooking area feeds a lot of people, there’s very little waste, and the food arrives hot. That’s why it works for so many events. For office lunches and staff parties and weddings and evening receptions, we will put together a menu of vegan paella, paella Valenciana and mixed paella for your guests.

From a terraced garden to a hired hall, events in The Wrythe come in all shapes. Tell us how close we can park and about any steps. Each paella is cooked from scratch on the day, never made in advance and reheated, and served as soon as it is ready.

How the day works

We work to your timings. If things run behind, we hold the paella at the right stage so it is still served fresh. Planning an evening event in The Wrythe? Sunset is around 8:50pm in late May, 9:20pm at midsummer and 7:05pm in late September; once it is dark, we need light to cook and serve by.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and any dietary needs.
  2. You get a suggested menu and an itemised quote.
  3. On the day we arrive in good time, set up and start the stock.
  4. The paella cooks in front of your guests, with tapas first if you’ve chosen them.
  5. We serve it hot from the pan and clear our area when service ends.

Before we arrive

  • Get the venue’s permission for cooking
  • Keep the cooking spot clear of fences, hedges and branches
  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely

Why live cooking beats a buffet

Cold buffets are easy but forgettable, and food can sit out for a while. Paella is cooked live and served hot. Live paella often compares well with a sit-down meal, because it needs no kitchen and fewer staff. We’ll send you a quote.

Why choose Love Paella in The Wrythe

  • Served hot, straight from the pan
  • No hidden extras in your quote
  • Real theatre, not just catering
  • Options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, each in its own pan

See Our prices page Or What paella catering costs.

Diets, allergies and planning

With a little notice, every diet is easy. Our advice:

  • Make sure each pan is labelled
  • Have seats for most of your guests
  • Pick a mix of paellas to cover every diet
  • Give us separate numbers for children

Once the rice is in, it needs about 20 minutes, so we start it at the right moment for your event. If plans change, tell us and we will adjust.

Need plates or staff? We can provide them.

Organising for someone else?

Events in public spaces, like parks, generally need permission. We can send whatever the landowner or council needs from us.

If you’re booking for a business, tell us how you’d like to handle the booking and payment, and we’ll talk you through the process. We are happy to liaise with facilities on access and timings.

About the dishes

Vegetable and vegan paella

Seasonal vegetables on a rich sofrito base make a paella that stands on its own. For vegans, the stock is plant-based.

Paella Valenciana

Paella Valenciana is the original: chicken, beans and saffron, not seafood. It’s often the most popular pan at an event.

DIY paella versus live catering

You can cook paella for a crowd yourself, but it takes practice. Large pans need the right burners, and getting the rice right at scale is tricky. Read how to cook paella for a crowd.

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party cooking. Booking us means you get the show without the stress.

What we need at the venue

We’ll agree the cooking spot with you before the day. A good spot ticks these boxes:

  • Agreement from the venue or landowner to cook on site
  • Access for unloading near the cooking spot
  • Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls

As a London location, The Wrythe is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: let us know about permits, bays or off-street parking.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise before booking.

Popular choices

FAQs for The Wrythe

Can you cater a reception after a service at Bishop Andrewes Church?

Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Live cooking generally happens at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.

Could we have live paella in Carshalton Park?

Only if the landowner, generally the council, allows it. Check with them, and we’ll provide our paperwork.

Are premium seafood options available?

We will talk through seafood options when we plan your menu, including premium options if you want them.

What happens with live paella?

We set up a cooking area at your venue, cook the paella from scratch in large pans while your guests watch, and serve it straight from the pan.

What space do you need to cook?

Less than you might think: a flat spot away from anything flammable, with space to serve. If in doubt, send a photo.

Which areas do you serve?

We cater across London and the South East, including Greater London. See all areas.

Can you provide dessert?

We do. Churros, crema catalana and tarta de Santiago are popular choices, or you can serve your own cake.

Do you cook it at the event?

It is. We bring the pans, burners and fresh ingredients and cook on the day, serving it hot from the pan.

  • Cooked live in giant pans at your event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
  • Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
  • Sangria, bar staff, crockery and waiting staff
