Paella catering near Tattenhoe

Paella catering in Tattenhoe, made fresh on the day

There’s something generous about paella: huge pans, saffron colour and a toasted crust that everyone fights over. It turns a meal into an occasion. We cook chicken and chorizo paella, seafood paella and vegetable paella, and we are regularly asked to cater summer garden parties and leaving dos and retirements.

For a place the size of Tattenhoe, your own garden is often the best venue: no venue hire, and nobody stuck cooking. Let us know about access to the house. You will know exactly what’s included before booking: menu, staff, crockery and anything else you choose.

Events we cater in Tattenhoe

Paella is one of the few dishes that handles mixed diets easily, thanks to separate pans for each version. Nobody gets a token ‘special meal’.

Big or small, live paella works well. Common bookings include:

  • Company summer parties
  • Anniversary celebrations
  • Weddings, from canapés to evening food
  • Naming days and family parties

For a christening or wedding at a church such as St Giles's Church, a paella lunch or reception nearby is an easy way to feed everyone.

Before booking anyone

  • Plates, cutlery and napkins, or disposables
  • How each diet is kept separate
  • Travel and parking costs
  • The venue requirements

What’s in the pans

Mixed paella

Mixed paella brings meat and seafood together.

Vegetable and vegan paella

Seasonal vegetables on a rich sofrito base make a paella that stands on its own. For vegans, the stock is plant-based.

Dietary needs and planning tips

Paella is one of the easiest dishes for mixed diets, because every paella has its own pan. Here are a few tips for planning:

  • Count adults and children separately
  • Choose two or three paellas so every guest has a choice
  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically
  • Put allergy details in writing

You shouldn’t have to worry about the food on the day. We arrive in good time, set up, cook and serve, and keep in touch with you or your venue about timings.

Crockery, cutlery and waiting staff are available if your venue does not provide them.

Why live cooking beats a buffet

With a barbecue, food comes in waves. Paella is cooked as one big dish and served together. The price depends on your guest numbers, the menu and how many courses you choose, along with staff, extras and travel. Every event gets its own quote.

What you get with us

  • Drinks service on request
  • Live cooking, not reheated food
  • Plates, cutlery and waiting staff available
  • Real theatre, not just catering

Tattenhoe questions

Can you cater a reception after a service at St Giles's Church?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Live cooking usually happens at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.

Which station should guests use for Tattenhoe?

Bletchley station, about 2.3 miles east of the centre.

Is the paella cooked on site?

Yes, always. We cook from scratch in large pans at your venue, in front of your guests.

What space do you need to cook?

Level ground for the burners, pans and a table, in the open air or a ventilated covered area, and the venue’s permission for live cooking.

Do you cook inside?

Mostly outside or under an open cover, because we use gas burners. Some venues have suitable spaces; we will check with you and the venue.

Do you take everything away?

We clear our cooking area away when service is finished. Waiting staff can clear tables if you book them.

Do you cater for vegetarian guests?

Of course. Vegetarian and vegan paellas are cooked in separate pans, alongside the meat and seafood pans.

How does live paella catering work?

We arrive with pans, burners and ingredients, cook while everyone watches, and serve when you are ready to eat.

Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?

A DIY paella party works for small groups. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.

Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, have hot stock ready, and do not stir once the rice goes in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

Before you choose a spot

We cook in large pans over gas burners, so we need a suitable spot. These are the things we check:

  • Clearance from fences, hedges, branches and anything flammable
  • Flat, firm ground for the cooking area
  • The venue’s permission for live cooking

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and we will say what we think before you book.

What we offer

  • Paella Valenciana
  • Black rice (arroz negro)
  • Vegetable paella
  • Vegan paella
  • Mixed paella
  • Seafood paella
  • Chicken & chorizo paella

How the day works

We work to your timings. If speeches run late or the photos take longer, we adjust the cooking so it is served at its best. Around midsummer it stays light in Tattenhoe until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening events are typically served in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. You tell us the date, venue, guest numbers and any dietary needs.
  2. You get a suggested menu and an itemised quote.
  3. On the day we arrive in good time, set up and start the stock.
  4. The paella cooks in front of your guests, with tapas first if you’ve chosen them.
  5. It’s served straight from the pan, and we pack down afterwards.

How to prepare

  • Ensure the spot is clear of anything flammable
  • Tell us when you want to eat
  • Make sure we can park close by to unload
