Paella catering in Seven Kings

Paella catering in Seven Kings, made fresh on the day

Everything is cooked from scratch on site, beginning with a sofrito of onion, garlic, peppers and tomato, then the stock, saffron and rice. Whether it’s garden parties and summer barbecues and festivals, fairs and school events, we can cook paella Valenciana, black rice and mixed paella.

London gardens are frequently long and narrow, which is fine for live paella as long as there’s a level spot clear of fences and trees. In Seven Kings, the bigger question is parking near the house or venue. We bring everything we need to cook, and pack down our cooking area when service is finished.

Organising for someone else?

If you are organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a festival organiser, we are happy to deal with you and the venue directly. It keeps things simple.

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: where cooking is allowed, access times and the paperwork they need. Tell us what your venue needs and we’ll work to it.

A closer look at the menu

Seafood paella

Prawns, mussels and squid in a rich fish stock, cooked until the rice is golden. It’s the pan people photograph.

Black rice

Arroz negro is coloured and flavoured with squid ink, and is usually served with alioli. It makes a dramatic second seafood pan.

How we price paella catering

These are the factors that matter most:

  • Chicken, vegetable or premium seafood
  • Crockery and cutlery, or disposables
  • Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff
  • Guest numbers

Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so the menu you choose affects the price. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.

What we need to know

When you get in touch, it helps to tell us:

  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • The address or venue name
  • The date and rough timings
  • A picture of the cooking space, if it is a garden or field

The quickest way to a quote is to fill in our quote form. Give us the details of your event, and we will put together a menu and price.

How it works

Your timings come first. If speeches run late or the photos take longer, we hold the paella at the right stage so it is served at its best. Evenings in Seven Kings stay light until about 9:20pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm; once it’s dark, we need light to cook and serve by.

  1. You tell us the date, venue, guest numbers and any dietary needs.
  2. You get a suggested menu and an itemised quote.
  3. On the day, we set up the burners and pans and get the stock going.
  4. The paella cooks in front of your guests, with tapas first if you’ve chosen them.
  5. We serve from the pan, then clear our cooking area away.

Preparing for the day

  • Arrange parking near the cooking spot
  • Let us know the timings for the day
  • Get the venue’s permission for cooking

Catering for every guest

Few dishes handle mixed diets as well as paella, because every paella has its own pan. A few tips:

  • Plan seating for most guests: paella is easiest eaten sitting down
  • Put allergy details in writing
  • Pick a mix of paellas to cover every diet
  • Add a dietary question to your invitations

Once everyone is fed, we clear our cooking area.

Tapas or canapés make a good start while the paella cooks.

Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party cooking. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.

Space, weather and the venue

Most gardens and venues can host live paella, but there are a few things to check:

  • Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls
  • A level, firm spot for the burners and pans
  • Confirmation that open cooking is allowed

As a London location, Seven Kings is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before booking.
