About our paella catering in Send

The cooking is half the fun. Guests gather round as the sofrito sizzles and the saffron colours the rice, and the aroma does the rest. Whether it’s milestone birthday parties and garden parties and summer barbecues, we can cook vegetable paella, paella Valenciana and seafood paella for your guests.

In and around Send, gardens and local halls are common choices. If the road in is narrow, tell us so we can plan the van. We bring everything we need to cook, and pack down our cooking area when service is finished.

Send: your questions answered

Could we have live paella in White Rose Lane?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, usually the council. Ask them first, and we’ll send any information they need.

Which station should guests use for Send?

Clandon station, about 2.2 miles south-east of the centre.

How many different paellas?

Two or three is usual: meat or mixed, seafood, and vegetable or vegan. We’ll suggest a split based on your guests.

Can you provide dessert?

We do. Churros, crema catalana and tarta de Santiago are popular choices, or you can serve your own cake.

What areas do you cover?

We cater across London and the South East, Surrey included. See all areas.

How far ahead should we book?

As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Even if it is short notice, it’s worth asking.

Can you cook indoors?

Generally we cook outdoors or under a ventilated cover, because we use gas burners. We will check whether your venue has a suitable space.

What is live paella catering?

We arrive with pans, burners and ingredients, cook in front of your guests, and serve at the time you want.

What affects the price in Send

Here’s what makes the biggest difference to the price:

  • How many guests are eating
  • Whether you need crockery
  • Chicken, vegetable or premium seafood
  • Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff

Compared with a plated meal, live paella is often good value, because it needs no kitchen and fewer staff. We will send you a quote.

Getting an accurate quote

You don’t need every detail fixed to get a quote, but it helps to know:

  • Whether the venue has crockery or staff
  • The courses you’d like
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers
  • The date and time of the event

Send us the date, your venue or GU23 postcode and guest numbers, along with any dietary needs, and we will reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. To get started, send us your details through our quote form.

How the day works

We cook over gas burners in wide, shallow pans. It needs a level spot with some shelter and good ventilation, which we agree with you beforehand. In Send, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. You tell us the date, venue, guest numbers and any dietary needs.
  2. We suggest a menu and confirm a quote, including what’s included.
  3. On the day, we set up the burners and pans and get the stock going.
  4. The paella cooks in front of your guests, with tapas first if you’ve chosen them.
  5. We serve it hot from the pan and clear our area when service ends.

Before we arrive

  • Keep the cooking spot clear of fences, hedges and branches
  • Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time
  • Share the running order, including any speeches

Diets, allergies and planning

Nearly every event has some special diets. To cater well for them:

  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically
  • Ask for labels on each pan
  • Ensure most guests can sit to eat
  • Send allergies to us in writing

On the day, you shouldn’t have to think about the food. We set up, cook and serve, and keep in touch with you or your venue about timings.

Tapas or canapés make a good start while the paella cooks.

Working with your venue

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we’ll keep you updated on timings and set-up.

Throwing a party at home? Send a photo of the space and tell us about parking, and we will tell you honestly whether live paella will work.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.

Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, have hot stock ready, and leave the rice alone once it’s in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.
