Paella catering in Roehampton, made fresh on the day
Everything is cooked from scratch on site, starting with a slow sofrito of onion, garlic, peppers and tomato, followed by stock, saffron and rice. Popular choices include black rice, vegan paella and paella Valenciana, and we’re regularly asked to cater retirement and leaving parties and big birthdays.
In Roehampton, events range from terrace gardens to hired halls. Let us know where we can stop to unload and about any steps. Tapas, canapés, desserts, sangria and staff can all be added, so the whole menu comes from one caterer.

Roehampton: your questions answered
Which station should guests use for Roehampton?
The closest is Barnes station, roughly 0.8 miles away.
What about parking in Roehampton?
London parking needs planning: let us know about permits or off-street space. We will work around it.
What seafood can we have?
We’ll talk through seafood options when we plan your menu.
When should we book?
The sooner the better. Peak dates go quickly, so get in touch early.
What is live paella catering?
We arrive with pans, burners and ingredients, cook while everyone watches, and serve when you’re ready to eat.
Do you do vegan paella?
Of course. We cook vegetarian and vegan paellas in their own pans, alongside the meat and seafood pans.
Can paella be the only main course?
Yes. Paella with bread and salad makes a full main course.
Can you cook indoors?
Indoors only where ventilation and the venue allow it. Courtyards, doorways and terraces often work.
Step by step
Expect a friendly, organised team. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, set up our cooking area, and get on with cooking and serving. Evenings in Roehampton stay light until about 9:20pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm; after dark, the cooking and serving areas need good lighting.
- First, you send us your date, venue, numbers and diets.
- You get a suggested menu and an itemised quote.
- On the day, we set up the burners and pans and get the stock going.
- Your guests watch the paella cook, with any tapas served first.
- We serve from the pan, then clear our cooking area away.
How to prepare
- Make sure we can park close by to unload
- Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
- Check the venue allows live cooking

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?
Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.
Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, have hot stock ready, and leave the rice alone once it is in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.
Planning the cooking area
Live paella is cooked over gas burners in large pans, so the cooking area needs a little planning. These are the things we check:
- Open air or a well-ventilated covered spot
- A level, firm spot for the burners and pans
- The venue’s permission for live cooking
As a London location, Roehampton is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: let us know about permits, bays or off-street parking.
If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Organising for someone else?
If you are organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a festival organiser, we’re happy to deal with you and the venue directly. It saves passing messages back and forth.
Planners and coordinators can contact us directly, and we’ll keep you updated on timings and set-up.
Prices and what affects them
These are the factors that matter most:
- Plates, cutlery and glassware
- Parking and unloading
- Starters, canapés and desserts
- Waiting and bar staff
Extras such as tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are priced separately, so you only pay for what you want.
What to tell us
You don’t need everything decided to ask for a quote, but it helps to know:
- Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers
- Anything your venue supplies
- Which courses you have in mind
- A photo of the cooking space, if it’s a garden or field
Every event is quoted individually, so you only pay for what you need. For a quote, use our quote form.
Dietary needs and planning tips
With a little notice, every diet is easy. Our advice:
- Ask about diets and allergies on your invitation or RSVP
- Ask for labels on each pan
- Tell us about coeliac guests specifically
- Give us separate numbers for children
The rice takes about 20 minutes once it goes in, so we start it at the right moment for your event. If plans change, tell us and we will adjust.
Add canapé tapas with the drinks or table tapas as a starter as the rice cooks.
