Paella catering for your event in Nuthurst

Everything is cooked from scratch on site, beginning with a sofrito of onion, garlic, peppers and tomato, then the stock, saffron and rice. We cook paella Valenciana, mixed paella and vegetable paella, and we are frequently booked for office lunches and staff parties and garden parties and summer barbecues.

Live paella or other catering?

For something a little different, live paella brings colour, aroma and a touch of Spain. There is no one-size-fits-all price for live paella. A simple paella lunch costs less than a wedding with canapés, three paellas and waiting staff. We itemise everything in your quote.

Why us?

  • Live cooking, not reheated food
  • A quote that spells everything out
  • Food that becomes part of the entertainment
  • Sangria and bar staff available

How it works

We take care of the food from set-up to service, so you are free to enjoy your event. Any tapas or canapés are served first as the rice is cooking. In Nuthurst, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so summer evening events are typically served in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. Start with the date, the place and the numbers.
  2. We come back with paellas to suit your guests, plus any extras.
  3. Closer to the day, we confirm timings and the cooking spot.
  4. We set up, cook from scratch and keep an eye on your timings.
  5. Guests are served from the pan, and our area is cleared afterwards.

Preparing for the day

About the dishes

Vegetable and vegan paella

A vegetable paella is not an afterthought: artichokes, beans, peppers and saffron.

Paella Valenciana

The original paella from Valencia is a countryside dish of chicken and vegetables, not seafood. It’s a favourite with guests who don’t eat fish.

Who books paella catering in Nuthurst?

Live paella is food and a show in one. The pans become a focal point, and the food is hot and generous.

  • Garden get-togethers
  • Leaving dos and retirements
  • Community events and fairs

For guests coming by train, the nearest station is Horsham station, about 3.1 miles north.

The same guest numbers can mean different prices, depending on:

  • Guest numbers
  • Distance and access to the venue

Tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are optional extras, so you can choose exactly what you need.

Questions from Nuthurst

Can you cook in Leonardslee?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, normally the council. Check with them, and we will provide our paperwork.

Can you cater a reception after a service at The Parish Church of St Andrew?

Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is usually elsewhere. Tell us where the reception will be.

Do you cook it at the event?

Yes. We arrive with everything we need and cook it there and then, then serve straight from the pan.

Can we add tapas or canapés?

Yes, and it’s a popular combination. Tapas go out first, then the paella.

Do you do vegan paella?

Yes, and they’re popular with everyone. Each is cooked separately, with its own stock and utensils.

What do you need at the venue?

A level space for the pans, burners and a serving table, in the open air or a ventilated covered area, and the venue’s permission for live cooking.

Do you provide plates and cutlery?

Yes, if you need them. Let us know what you have, and we will quote for the rest.

Does paella work for big events?

Yes, that is what it is made for. We plan the number of pans and serving points around your numbers.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.

Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it’s harder than it looks. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right at scale is tricky. Read how to cook paella for a crowd.

For event organisers in Nuthurst

Booking for a company? Tell us what your finance team needs, and we will explain how it works. We’re happy to liaise with facilities on access and timings.

Throwing a party at home? Send us a photo of the garden and tell us about access, and we will tell you honestly whether live paella will work.

Diets, allergies and planning

Most events have a mix of diets. To plan for them:

  • Flag any coeliac guests, not just gluten-free preferences
  • Make sure most guests can sit to eat
  • Ask about diets and allergies on your invitation or RSVP
  • Send allergies to us in writing

Any staff you book serve and clear, so you can relax.

Tapas or canapés make a good start as the rice cooks.
