Live paella catering in Nutfield

Paella catering for your event in Nutfield

A couple of different pans covers everyone: a meat or mixed paella, a seafood paella and a vegetable or vegan one. Each is cooked separately, so diets are easy to manage. On the menu are chicken and chorizo paella, black rice and vegan paella, and typical bookings are for engagement and anniversary parties and garden parties and summer barbecues.

In a rural place like Nutfield, the setting does plenty of the work: a paella cooking in a garden or field feels right at home. Let us know about access and ground conditions. All the cooking equipment comes with us, and we clear our cooking area away afterwards.

Nutfield questions

We are having a ceremony at Church of St Peter and St Paul: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Live cooking normally happens at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.

Do you come out to small places like Nutfield?

No, we cook in small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and parking.

What equipment do you bring?

Pans, burners and ingredients all come with us. You provide a suitable spot and access.

Can you cook indoors?

Normally we cook outdoors or under a ventilated cover, because we use gas burners. Some venues have suitable spaces; we’ll check with you and the venue.

Which paellas do you recommend?

Two or three is usual: a mixed or chicken paella, a seafood paella and a vegetable or vegan one. See the sample menu.

How does live paella catering work?

We set up a cooking area at your venue, cook the paella from scratch in large pans while your guests watch, and serve it straight from the pan.

Do you do desserts?

Yes, Spanish desserts can be added. Let us know if you’d like one when you ask for a quote.

Can you cook in the rain?

We need a covered spot, such as a gazebo, marquee or open-sided barn with good ventilation. We’ll agree a wet-weather plan with you.

Should I cook it myself?

Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, keep the stock hot, and leave the rice alone once it’s in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but you’ll still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. We take care of all of it.

About the dishes

Black rice

Arroz negro is coloured and flavoured with squid ink, traditionally with alioli. It makes a dramatic second seafood pan.

Mixed paella

Paella mixta combines meat and seafood in one pan, and it’s frequently the first pan to empty.

Perfect for your event in Nutfield

Paella is one of the few dishes that handles mixed diets easily, thanks to separate pans for each version. Everyone gets the same kind of meal.

How it works

The cooking is part of the entertainment. Onion, garlic, peppers and tomato go in first, then the stock and saffron, then the rice, which cooks without stirring. Around midsummer it stays light in Nutfield until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

Paella compared with other options

Vans serve one order at a time. A paella pan serves many portions quickly, so everyone can eat at the same time. Compared with a plated meal, live paella is frequently good value, because it needs no kitchen and fewer staff. Ask us for a quote.

Space, weather and the venue

We will agree the cooking spot with you before the day. A good spot ticks these boxes:

  • Access for unloading near the cooking spot
  • A level, firm spot for the burners and pans
  • Clearance from fences, hedges, branches and anything flammable

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise before booking.
