About our paella catering in New Barn
Two or three pans side by side cover every guest: a meat or mixed paella, a seafood paella and a vegetable or vegan one. Each is cooked separately, so diets are easy to manage. On the menu are seafood paella, paella Valenciana and black rice, and we are regularly asked to cater company summer parties and garden get-togethers.
In a smaller place like New Barn, a garden party is often the simplest option: no hire fees, and live paella feeds everyone without anyone stuck in the kitchen. Tell us about access down the lane or drive. Tapas, canapés, desserts, sangria and staff can all be added, so one booking can cover the whole menu.
Why live cooking beats a buffet
A plated meal needs a kitchen, more staff and normally costs more per head. Live paella needs a level, ventilated spot and the venue’s permission to cook, and it is entertaining too. Tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are optional extras, so you can choose exactly what you need.
Why choose Love Paella in New Barn
- No hidden extras in your quote
- Hot food served quickly from the pan
- Sangria, plus bar staff for your own drinks
- Crockery and waiting staff if you need them

Dietary needs and planning tips
Every guest is catered for, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal included. To get it right:
- Ask for labels on each pan
- Let us know about other food at the event
- Let us know if anyone has coeliac disease
- Plan a meat, a seafood and a vegetable or vegan pan
After service, we pack down our cooking area, quietly and quickly.
Crockery, cutlery and waiting staff are available if your venue does not provide them.
Planning the cooking area
If a space isn’t suitable, we’ll tell you, and suggest an alternative. The main points are:
- Level ground for the pans and burners
- Access for unloading near the cooking spot
- The venue’s permission for live cooking
If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Details that help
To check availability and price, we need:
- A photo of the space, if you can
- Where the event is
- Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
- The date and time of the event
Most quotes start with a few simple details: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. You can fill in our quote form.
Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?
For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.
You can hire equipment and do it yourself, but you will still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. A caterer handles all of that.
Catering an event in New Barn
New Barn is about 3 miles south of Northfleet, in Kent. Events in New Barn are planned around your venue and timings: a quote, a plan and live cooking on the day. New Barn is one of 922 towns and villages in Kent where we cook. You can also see our page for London, about 20 miles away.
Thinking of a picnic-style party in Rectory Meadow? Public parks generally need permission from the council or landowner for cooking, so check first. The Kent Downs National Landscape is within about 8 miles of New Barn, a lovely setting for an outdoor event. Some venues in protected landscapes have rules about vehicles and cooking, so check with yours.

What happens on the day
Once the rice is in, we do not stir it. That’s how the grains cook evenly and the toasted base, the socarrat, forms. The smell typically draws people over. Around midsummer it stays light in New Barn until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:50pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.
- Start with the date, the place and the numbers.
- We come back with paellas to suit your guests, plus any extras.
- A week or so before, we confirm the plan.
- We set up, cook from scratch and keep an eye on your timings.
- We serve, then leave our area tidy.
Before we arrive

New Barn questions
Do you cater in the Kent Downs National Landscape?
Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and cooking, so check with yours. We will work to whatever the site needs.
Can you cook in Rectory Meadow?
Only if the landowner, typically the council, allows it. Ask them first, and we will send any information they need.
What happens with live paella?
We arrive with pans, burners and ingredients, cook while everyone watches, and serve at the time you want.
How many different paellas?
Most events have two or three: a meat or mixed paella, a seafood paella and a vegetable or vegan one. We’ll suggest a split based on your guests.
Do you cater for young children?
Of course. Children frequently love a simple chicken paella. Include children in your numbers.
Do you clear up afterwards?
We take our equipment and leave the cooking area tidy. Table clearing is available with waiting staff.
Do you do desserts?
Yes. Churros, crema catalana and tarta de Santiago are popular choices, or you can serve your own cake.
What if the weather’s bad?
A covered, ventilated spot keeps us cooking in the rain. We’ll make a plan B with you.
