Planners, venues and businesses

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: cooking areas, access times and documents. Send us your venue’s requirements and we will follow them.

If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We will provide any information the landowner or council asks for.

Mousehill is about 6 miles south-west of Guildford, in Surrey. Give us the address of your event in Mousehill, and we’ll plan access and set-up before the day. We cook in all 395 towns and villages across Surrey, from the larger towns to small villages. You can also see our page for Guildford, about 6 miles away.

Historic houses near Mousehill include Loseley Park (3.8 miles north-east) and Wanborough Manor (4.5 miles north). Historic venues frequently limit cooking, so ask early if you’re booking one. Some venues in protected landscapes have rules about vehicles and cooking, so check with yours.

We cater events across GU8 and the streets around it. Local streets include Green Lane, The Cedars and Moushill Lane; an event at home on any of them works well with live paella. Why live cooking beats a buffet

Next to a hog roast or barbecue, paella makes vegetarian, vegan and halal guests easier to cater for, because each paella has its own pan. Service from the pan keeps queues moving. Live paella frequently compares well with a sit-down meal, because it needs no kitchen and fewer staff. Ask us for a quote.

Why us?

  • Real theatre, not just catering
  • A quote that spells everything out
  • We cover Mousehill and the whole of Surrey
  • Tapas, canapés and desserts if you want them

What happens on the day

On the day, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so we time everything to your schedule. Around midsummer it stays light in Mousehill until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. We suggest paellas and extras and send a clear quote.
  3. Timings, access and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. On the day, we set up and cook in front of your guests.
  5. We serve from the pan, then pack down.

What’s in the pans

Black rice

Squid ink rice is bold and savoury.

Paella Valenciana

The original paella from Valencia is a countryside dish of chicken and vegetables, rather than seafood. It is a favourite with guests who don’t eat fish.

Catering for every guest

With a little notice, every diet is easy. We suggest:

  • Tell us what else is being served
  • Choose two or three paellas so every guest has a choice
  • Count adults and children separately
  • Confirm allergies by email

Let the paella rest for a few minutes before serving, which is when we typically call guests over.

Tapas or canapés make a good start as the rice cooks.
