DIY paella versus live catering

Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but there is shopping, prep and hours of cooking. A caterer handles all of that.

Not sure whether to cook yourself or book a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. We are happy to give you a quote to compare.

Paella catering for your event in Loxhill

Paella is generous food: huge pans, saffron colour and a toasted crust that everyone fights over. It makes the food an event in itself. We are often asked to cater weddings, from canapés to evening food and fairs, fêtes and festivals, with chicken and chorizo paella, vegan paella and paella Valenciana.

In a hamlet or village like Loxhill, your own garden or a neighbour’s field can make a wonderful venue. Gates, verges and soft ground are worth mentioning when you enquire. We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, each in a separate pan and clearly labelled.

Perfect for your event in Loxhill

Paella is one of the few dishes that handles mixed diets easily, thanks to separate pans for each version. Nobody gets a token ‘special meal’.

We can help if you are planning any of the following:

  • Weddings, from canapés to evening food
  • Company summer parties
  • Community events and fairs
  • Engagement and anniversary parties

For guests coming by train, the nearest station is Witley station, about 3.5 miles west.

Questions to ask before booking

  • VAT, if it applies
  • The deposit and payment dates
  • What happens if it rains
  • How each diet is kept separate

How to compare caterers

Catering for every guest

Nearly every event has some special diets. To plan for them:

  • Ensure each pan is labelled
  • Send allergies to us in writing
  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically
  • Ask about diets and allergies on your invitation or RSVP

Let the paella rest for a few minutes before serving, and that is when we invite guests up.

FAQs for Loxhill

Is Loxhill too small for live paella?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and parking.

Which station should guests use for Loxhill?

The closest is Witley station, roughly 3.5 miles away.

Can you feed a lot of people?

Yes, that is what it is made for. We plan the number of pans and serving points around your numbers.

Do you bring everything you need?

All cooking kit comes with us. Tell us what the venue provides, such as tables or crockery.

How does live paella catering work?

We bring everything needed to cook on site, cook while everyone watches, and serve at the time you want.

What do you need at the venue?

Less than you might think: a flat spot away from anything flammable, with space to serve. If in doubt, send a picture.

Can you bring crockery?

We can. Tell us what your venue provides and we will include the rest in the quote.

Which paellas suit our guests?

Most events choose two or three: a mixed or chicken paella, a seafood paella and a vegetable or vegan one. Our menu lists the options.

Live paella or other catering?

For something a little different, live paella brings colour, aroma and a touch of Spain to your event in Loxhill. Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so it helps to tell us about your venue. The full price is confirmed before you book.

Why choose Love Paella in Loxhill

  • No hidden extras in your quote
  • Crockery and waiting staff if you need them
  • Starters and desserts to complete the menu
  • Real theatre, not just catering

Take a look at Our prices page And Our guide to catering costs.

Prices and what affects them

There is nothing hidden: the price is based on:

  • Your choice of paellas
  • Starters, canapés and desserts
  • How long we are needed on site
  • Distance and access to the venue

There’s no one-size-fits-all price for live paella. A simple paella lunch costs less than a wedding with canapés, three paellas and waiting staff. Your quote spells it all out.

What to tell us

The more we know about your event, the better we can plan. Please include:

  • A picture of where we’d cook
  • Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
  • Expected numbers
  • What the venue already provides

How the day works

Serving is fast: the paella goes straight from the pan to the plate, so large groups are fed quickly. Afterwards we clear our cooking area away. Planning an evening event in Loxhill? Sunset is around 8:50pm in late May, 9:20pm at midsummer and 7:05pm in late September; once it is dark, we need light to cook and serve by.

  1. First, you send us your date, venue, numbers and diets.
  2. We put together a menu and a clear quote.
  3. On the day, we set up the burners and pans and get the stock going.
  4. The rice cooks in full view, while tapas or canapés go round.
  5. It is served straight from the pan, and we pack down afterwards.

Before we arrive

  • Name one person we can ask on the day
  • Confirm the venue is happy with live cooking
  • Tell us where to park and unload
