Planning for every diet

Few dishes handle mixed diets as well as paella, because each paella is cooked in its own pan. A few tips:

  • Confirm allergies by email
  • Give us separate numbers for children
  • Tell us what else is being served
  • Let us know if anyone has coeliac disease

Paella is best eaten as soon as it is ready, so we serve when guests are ready.

Crockery, cutlery and waiting staff are available if your venue doesn’t provide them.

Paella catering for your event in Littlestead Green

A couple of different pans covers everyone: a meat or mixed paella, a seafood paella and a vegetable or vegan one. Each is cooked separately, so diets are easy to manage. Whether it is wedding breakfasts and evening food and big birthdays, we’ll put together a menu of vegan paella, mixed paella and seafood paella for your guests.

In a hamlet or village like Littlestead Green, your own garden or a neighbour’s field can make a wonderful venue. Mention gates and soft ground when you get in touch. We plan the timings around your day, whether that is speeches, a lunch break or a festival schedule.

The process

A typical event goes like this: we arrive, set up and start cooking, your guests watch the rice cook, and we serve straight from the pan at the agreed time. Around midsummer it stays light in Littlestead Green until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. You get a menu and an itemised quote.
  3. Timings, access and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. On the day, we set up and cook in front of your guests.
  5. We serve from the pan, then pack down.

Preparing for the day

  • Leave space around the cooking area
  • Have a level space ready for the pans
  • Confirm the venue is happy with live cooking

Littlestead Green: your questions answered

Is Littlestead Green too small for live paella?

No, we cook in small places too. Let us know about access and parking.

Can you cook in Ali's Pond Local Nature Reserve?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, usually the council. Check with them, and we’ll provide our paperwork.

Do you do vegan paella?

Yes, and they’re popular with everyone. They have their own pans, stock and spoons.

Do you cater in Littlestead Green?

Yes, we do. We cook at events in Littlestead Green and across Reading. Tell us your date and we’ll check availability.

Can you do gluten-free paella?

We can, if you tell us in advance. The rice is gluten-free, but stocks and chorizo can contain gluten, so we make a separate gluten-free pan.

When should we book?

As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Ask about your date even if it’s soon.

Do you take everything away?

We pack down our cooking area after service. Clearing guests’ plates and tables can be added with waiting staff.

Do you bring everything you need?

We bring the pans, burners and ingredients. You provide a suitable spot and access.

Why live cooking beats a buffet

Next to a hog roast or barbecue, paella makes vegetarian, vegan and halal guests easier to cater for, because each paella has its own pan. It is served quickly from the pan, so queues move. Cost depends on guest numbers, the menu and the courses, plus any staff, crockery and travel. Every event gets its own quote.

Why Littlestead Green hosts choose us

  • Waiting staff and crockery on request
  • Separate pans for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests
  • A clear, itemised quote
  • Events in Littlestead Green and across Reading

Take a look at How we price Or What paella catering costs.

Dishes our guests love

Black rice

Black rice gets its colour from squid ink, and is normally served with alioli. It makes a dramatic second seafood pan.

Vegetable and vegan paella

A vegetable paella is not an afterthought: peppers, artichokes and beans with saffron, cooked in its own pan.

How we price paella catering

We’ll give you a clear, itemised quote. The main things that affect it are:

  • The paellas you choose
  • Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff
  • Guest numbers
  • Distance and access to the venue

Got a budget? Let us know, and we’ll put together a menu that fits. A simple menu can still feel generous.
