About our paella catering in Hither Green

Paella has always been food for a crowd: cooked outdoors in a wide, shallow pan and shared. That is what we bring to events in Hither Green. We are often asked to cater garden parties and summer barbecues and anniversary celebrations, serving vegetable paella, mixed paella and black rice.

Around Hither Green, most London events we are asked about are in gardens, courtyards and hired venues. The thing to plan is parking and unloading, so tell us about permits, bays or a driveway when you ask for a quote. We bring everything we need to cook, and pack down our cooking area when service is finished.

For planners, venues and organisers

Hosting a party at home? Send a picture of the space and tell us about parking, and we will let you know if live paella is a good fit.

For larger events, we plan the number of pans and serving points around your timings, so everyone eats promptly. Tell us how long you have for food.

What we need at the venue

We’ll agree the cooking spot with you before the day. It needs to meet a few simple requirements:

  • Access for unloading near the cooking spot
  • Agreement from the venue or landowner to cook on site
  • A safe distance from anything that could catch

As a London location, Hither Green is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise before booking.

You shouldn’t have to worry about the food on the day. We set up, cook and serve, and keep in touch with you or your venue about timings.

A closer look at the menu

Paella Valenciana

In Valencia, the recipe is fiercely debated. The traditional pan has chicken, flat green beans and butter beans, and it is a crowd-pleaser.

Mixed paella

A mix of chicken and seafood, for guests who want a bit of everything.

Step by step

On the day, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so the timing is planned around your event. In Hither Green, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so summer evening events are generally served in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:55pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. First, you send us your date, venue, numbers and diets.
  2. We suggest a menu and confirm a quote, including what’s included.
  3. On the day, we set up the burners and pans and get the stock going.
  4. The rice cooks in full view, while tapas or canapés go round.
  5. We serve from the pan, then clear our cooking area away.
