Paella catering in Hightown, made fresh on the day

For a rural spot like Hightown, the countryside is part of the appeal: a giant pan in a garden or field fits perfectly. Let us know about access and ground conditions. Every pan is cooked in front of your guests, so the food is hot, fresh and part of the occasion.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it’s harder than it looks. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right for dozens of people takes experience. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.

Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, have hot stock ready, and don’t stir once the rice goes in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

Paella compared with other options

Food trucks and street-food vans serve one portion at a time. A paella pan serves many portions quickly, so everyone can eat at the same time. Comparing caterers? Look at what each quote includes: staff, crockery, bread and salads, travel and VAT. Our quotes spell it all out.

Dietary needs and planning tips

Most events have a mix of diets. To cater well for them:

  • Collect dietary needs with your RSVPs
  • Have seats for most of your guests
  • Tell us how many children are coming
  • Let us know if anyone has coeliac disease

On the day, you shouldn’t have to think about the food. We arrive in good time, set up, cook and serve, and stay in touch with your venue about timings.

Tapas or canapés make a good start as the rice cooks.

Hightown: your questions answered

Can you cater a reception after a service at St John the Baptist?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Live cooking typically happens at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.

Is Hightown too small for live paella?

No, we cook in small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and parking.

Do you come to Hightown?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, and Hightown is within our area and the rest of Hampshire. To check your date, use our quote form.

How long do you need on site?

That depends on your menu and numbers. We’ll agree arrival, cooking and serving times with you so the paella is ready when you want it.

Can you bring crockery?

Yes, if you need them. Tell us what your venue provides and we will include the rest in the quote.

How much is live paella catering?

We quote for each event, based on what you actually want. Tell us your date and numbers and we will reply with a price.

Can you cook indoors?

Indoors only where ventilation and the venue allow it. Most events have us cooking outside or in a doorway or courtyard.

Is live paella good for a large crowd?

Very much so. We size pans and serving points to your guest list.

How it works

From set-up to serving, we look after the food, so you can enjoy your event. If you’ve chosen tapas or canapés, they go out first as the rice is cooking. Evenings in Hightown stay light until about 9:25pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:10pm; after dark, the cooking and serving areas need good lighting.

  1. You tell us the date, venue, guest numbers and any dietary needs.
  2. We suggest a menu and confirm a quote, including what’s included.
  3. On the day, we set up the burners and pans and get the stock going.
  4. Your guests watch the paella cook, with any tapas served first.
  5. It is served straight from the pan, and we pack down afterwards.

Preparing for the day

  • Leave space around the cooking area
  • Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time
  • Tell us where to park and unload
