Choosing a paella caterer

About our paella catering in Dulwich Village

A single cooking set-up can feed a crowd, there’s very little waste, and the food is served hot. It is why live paella suits so many kinds of event. For garden parties and summer barbecues and community events and fairs, we can cook seafood paella, black rice and mixed paella for your guests.

In a London neighbourhood like Dulwich Village, the cooking spot is usually a back garden, a courtyard or a venue’s terrace. The thing to plan is parking and unloading, so let us know about parking permits or a driveway. Everything is cooked from scratch at your event, not reheated, and served the moment it’s ready.

Diets, allergies and planning

Allergies and diets are taken seriously. Help us by following these steps:

  • Count adults and children separately
  • Tell us what else is being served
  • Request clear labels at the serving table
  • Pick a mix of paellas to cover every diet

Paella is best eaten as soon as it is ready, so we serve when guests are ready.

Add canapé tapas with the drinks or table tapas as a starter as the rice cooks.

Where we can cook in Dulwich Village

We cook in large pans over gas burners, so the cooking area needs a little planning. These are the things we check:

  • Open air or a well-ventilated covered spot
  • Flat, firm ground for the cooking area
  • Parking close enough to carry equipment

Dulwich Village is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking can be tight: tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise before booking.

Organising for someone else?

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we will keep everyone informed on the day.

If you’re organising for someone else, whether you’re a planner, an office manager or an event organiser, we’ll work directly with you and the venue. It saves passing messages back and forth.

Is live paella right for your event?

Cold buffets are easy but forgettable, and the food sits out. Paella is cooked in front of your guests and served hot. Larger events normally cost less per head, because the cooking set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.

Why book with us

  • Add tapas, canapés and Spanish desserts
  • A clear, itemised quote
  • Served hot, straight from the pan
  • Plates, cutlery and waiting staff available

See Our prices page And Our guide to catering costs.

Should I cook it myself?

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party cooking. Booking us means you get the show without the stress.

You can cook paella for a crowd yourself, but it takes practice. Large pans need the right burners, and getting the rice right at scale is tricky. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.

Dulwich Village: your questions answered

Is parking a problem for events in Dulwich Village?

It can be, so tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway. We’ll plan unloading around it.

Could we have live paella in Dulwich Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, generally the council. Ask them first, and we will send any information they need.

Can you bring crockery?

Yes, on request. Crockery, cutlery and napkins, or good-quality disposables can be added to your booking.

Do you do vegan paella?

Yes, and meat eaters often go back for seconds. Each is cooked separately, with its own stock and utensils.

What space do you need to cook?

Not a lot: a level spot clear of fences, hedges and branches, with room for a serving table. Send us a picture if you’re not sure.

What equipment do you bring?

We bring the pans, burners and ingredients. You provide a suitable spot and access.

Can we choose the seafood?

We will talk through seafood options when we plan your menu, including premium options if you want them.

Can you cook halal paella?

Yes, on request. Let us know your halal numbers, and it is cooked separately.

How it works

From set-up to serving, we look after the food, so you’re free to enjoy your event. If you’ve chosen tapas or canapés, they go out first while the paella cooks. Around midsummer it stays light in Dulwich Village until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it’s dark by about 3:55pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. We suggest paellas and extras and send a clear quote.
  3. Timings, access and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. We cook live on the day while guests watch.
  5. It’s served straight from the pan, and we clear our area afterwards.

Before we arrive

  • Share the running order, including any speeches
  • Pick a flat, firm spot for us to cook
  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely

Prices and what affects them

The price comes down to a few factors:

  • Distance and access to the venue
  • Crockery and cutlery, or disposables
  • How long we’re needed on site
  • Your choice of paellas

Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so tell us about the venue when you ask for a quote. Everything is confirmed in writing.

Getting an accurate quote

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what’s useful:

  • Which courses you have in mind
  • The date and rough timings
  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • Roughly how many adults and children

We need only a few details to quote: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. You can use our quote form.
