How our paella catering works in Crystal Palace
We arrive with the pans, burners and fresh ingredients and cook the paella in front of your guests. When it’s ready, it is served straight from the pan. Popular choices include seafood paella, vegetable paella and paella Valenciana, and we are often booked for family celebrations and christenings and retirement and leaving parties.
In Crystal Palace, events range from terrace gardens to hired halls. Let us know where we can stop to unload, and whether there are steps or narrow passages. We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, each in a separate pan and clearly labelled.

What paella catering costs
Your quote will be clear and itemised. The main things that affect it are:
- Plates, cutlery and glassware
- Timings and hours
- Parking and unloading
- The number of people
Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so your choice of paellas affects the total. We’ll suggest options to suit your budget.
What we need to know
Good planning starts with a few facts. Please include:
- The address or venue name
- Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers
- Roughly how many adults and children
- The courses you’d like
A detailed enquiry gets a more accurate quote: the venue, the timings, the courses you’d like and any extras. To send your details, fill in our quote form.
How it works
The paella is cooked in giant, shallow pans over gas burners. It needs a level spot with some shelter and good ventilation, which we agree with you beforehand. Evenings in Crystal Palace stay light until about 9:20pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm; after dark, the cooking and serving areas need good lighting.
- It starts with your date, venue, numbers and any dietary needs.
- We put together a menu and a clear quote.
- On the day we arrive in good time, set up and start the stock.
- The rice cooks in full view, while tapas or canapés go round.
- It’s served straight from the pan, and we pack down afterwards.
How to prepare
- Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
- Keep the cooking spot clear of fences, hedges and branches
- Give us your final numbers and diets
How to get a price

Questions from Crystal Palace
We’re having a ceremony at St Paul's: can you cater afterwards?
Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is typically elsewhere. Tell us where the reception will be.
Is parking a problem for events in Crystal Palace?
It can be, so tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway. We’ll plan unloading around it.
Can you feed a lot of people?
Yes, that is what it’s made for. We size pans and serving points to your guest list.
Is the paella gluten-free?
A gluten-free pan is no problem. Tell us about any coeliac guests when you book so we take the right care.
How long does the paella take?
We arrive well before serving to set up and start the stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, and we time it to your schedule.
Can you do sangria?
Yes, sangria. We can also supply bar staff for your own drinks.
Is paella enough as a main?
Paella is a meal in itself. Many hosts add tapas first or dessert after.
How much is live paella catering?
We quote for each event, so you only pay for what you need. Tell us your date and numbers for a clear quote.
Cook it yourself or book a caterer?
Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.
Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it’s harder than it looks. Large pans need the right burners, and getting the rice right for dozens of people takes experience. Read how to cook paella for a crowd.

Space, weather and the venue
We will be honest if a space won’t work. What matters most:
- Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls
- Good ventilation: outdoors, or an open-sided cover
- A level, firm spot for the burners and pans
As a London location, Crystal Palace is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway.
If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before you book.

Dietary needs and planning tips
Few dishes handle mixed diets as well as paella, because each paella is cooked in its own pan. Here are a few tips for planning:
- Collect dietary needs with your RSVPs
- Request clear labels at the serving table
- Tell us what else is being served
- Make sure most guests can sit to eat
Paella is best eaten as soon as it’s ready, so we plan service for when guests are ready to eat.
Bread, salad and lemon wedges make the meal go further.
