Paella catering for Coombe events

Paella catering in Coombe, made fresh on the day

Everything is cooked from scratch on site, starting with a slow sofrito of onion, garlic, peppers and tomato, then the stock, saffron and rice. Whether it’s anniversary celebrations and birthday celebrations, we can cook vegan paella, vegetable paella and chicken and chorizo paella and more.

Around Coombe, most London events we’re asked about are in gardens, courtyards and hired venues. Parking and loading are the main things to plan, so tell us about permits, bays or a driveway when you ask for a quote. Every guest is catered for, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal included, with each paella cooked in its own pan and clearly labelled.

Diets, allergies and planning

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. We suggest:

  • Add a dietary question to your invitations
  • Let us know about other food at the event
  • Have seats for most of your guests
  • Tell us how many children are coming

Paella is at its best straight from the pan, so we plan service for when guests are ready to eat.

Tapas or canapés make a good start as the rice cooks.

What paella catering costs

These are the factors that matter most:

  • Your choice of paellas
  • The length of service
  • Travel, parking and access
  • How many guests are eating

Cost depends on guest numbers, the menu and the courses, plus any staff, crockery and travel. We quote for each event individually.

Getting an accurate quote

These details help us quote quickly:

  • A picture of the cooking space, if it’s a garden or field
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers
  • The venue or postcode
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children

Not sure what you need yet? That’s fine: give us the basics about your event, and we will make suggestions. Start when you are ready: send us your details through our quote form.

Paella compared with other options

A cold buffet is simple but has no theatre, and food can sit out for a while. Paella is cooked live and served hot. Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so your choice of paellas affects the total. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.

Why Coombe hosts choose us

  • Sangria, plus bar staff for your own drinks
  • A quote that spells everything out
  • Hot food served quickly from the pan
  • Tapas, canapés and desserts if you want them

Coombe: your questions answered

Could we have live paella in Cottenham Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, typically the council. Ask them first, and we will send any information they need.

We’re having a ceremony at Christ Church New Malden: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is generally elsewhere. Send us the reception address.

What happens with live paella?

We set up a cooking area at your venue, cook the paella from scratch in large pans while your guests watch, and serve it straight from the pan.

How do you work out quantities?

Pans are sized to your numbers and other courses. Tell us what else is being served. Our guide to portions explains more.

Are premium seafood options available?

Tell us your preferences and we’ll suggest seafood options to suit your menu and budget. Premium shellfish can be added.

How soon do we need to book?

Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Even if it is short notice, it’s worth asking.

Is paella a full meal?

Paella is a meal in itself. Many hosts add tapas first or dessert after.

Can you bring crockery?

We can. Let us know what you have, and we will quote for the rest.

The process

Serving is fast: the paella goes straight from the pan to the plate, so even a long queue moves. Afterwards we clear our cooking area away. Around midsummer it stays light in Coombe until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening events are generally served in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:55pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. First, you send us your date, venue, numbers and diets.
  2. You get a suggested menu and an itemised quote.
  3. On the day, we set up the burners and pans and get the stock going.
  4. The paella cooks in front of your guests, with tapas first if you’ve chosen them.
  5. We serve from the pan, then clear our cooking area away.

Preparing for the day

  • Arrange a covered spot for wet weather
  • Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time
  • Give us a contact for the day

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles separate pans for each diet.

Weighing up DIY against a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. We are happy to give you a quote to compare.

Who books paella catering in Coombe?

Few dishes cope with mixed diets like paella, because each version is cooked in its own pan. Nobody gets a token ‘special meal’.

In Coombe and nearby, we cater all sorts of events. Popular bookings include:

  • Retirement celebrations
  • Community events and fairs
  • Anniversaries and engagement parties
  • Company summer parties

Parks such as Cottenham Park usually need the owner’s permission for cooking, so ask before you plan a party there.

Choosing a paella caterer

What’s in the pans

Vegetable and vegan paella

A vegetable paella isn’t an afterthought: artichokes, beans, peppers and saffron.

Seafood paella

A rich seafood stock with prawns, mussels and squid, cooked until the rice is golden. It’s usually the most photographed pan.
