Working with your venue

Throwing a party at home? Send us a picture of the garden and tell us about access, and we will tell you honestly whether live paella will work.

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: where cooking is allowed, access times and the paperwork they need. Tell us what your venue needs and we’ll work to it.

Paella catering for your event in Budds

Keep it simple, or go all out: just paella, or paella with tapas, desserts and drinks. We will recommend what fits your event. For leaving dos and retirements and weddings, from canapés to evening food, we can cook black rice, chicken and chorizo paella and seafood paella and more.

In a small place like Budds, events are normally in a garden, a field or a nearby hall. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives and we will plan for them, and a firm spot near where we park makes set-up easier. Timings are planned around your event, so the paella is ready when you want to eat.

Questions from Budds

Can you cook at venues in the Kent Downs National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and cooking, so check with yours. We will follow the site rules.

Can you cook in Ivy Hatch Nature Reserve?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, normally the council. Ask them first, and we will send any information they need.

Is paella a full meal?

Paella is a meal in itself. Many hosts add tapas first or dessert after.

Which areas do you serve?

We cover London and the South East, including Kent. Find your area.

Which paellas do you recommend?

That depends on who’s coming. Chicken and mixed paellas tend to go first, alongside seafood and vegetable or vegan pans.

How many paellas should we have?

Two or three covers most guests. We will recommend a mix based on diets.

Can you cook halal paella?

Yes, on request. Tell us how many guests need halal food, and it’s cooked separately.

When do you arrive?

We get there in good time to set up. The rice itself takes about 20 minutes, timed around your event.

Why choose live paella in Budds?

Food trucks and street-food vans serve one portion at a time. A big pan serves many guests fast, so everyone can eat at the same time. Premium seafood costs more than chicken or vegetables, so your choice of paellas affects the total. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.

Why us?

  • Events in Budds and across Kent
  • Hot food served quickly from the pan
  • Drinks service on request
  • Waiting staff and crockery on request

Step by step

When we arrive, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so we time everything to your schedule. Around midsummer it stays light in Budds until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. First, you send us your date, venue, numbers and diets.
  2. We suggest a menu and confirm a quote, including what’s included.
  3. On the day we arrive in good time, set up and start the stock.
  4. Your guests watch the paella cook, with any tapas served first.
  5. We serve it hot from the pan and clear our area when service ends.

Preparing for the day

  • Arrange a covered spot for wet weather
  • Let us know who to talk to on the day
  • Have a level space ready for the pans

How we price paella catering

Live paella pricing is straightforward once we know the basics:

  • Waiting and bar staff
  • Timings and hours
  • Travel, parking and access
  • The number of people

Extras such as tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are priced separately, so you only pay for what you want.

Getting an accurate quote

You do not need everything decided to ask for a quote, but these help:

  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • A picture of the cooking space, if it’s a garden or field
  • Which courses you have in mind
  • The address or venue name

It’s easy to get a price: share your date, venue, numbers and diets. We’ll send a clear, itemised quote and a suggested menu.

Before you choose a spot

Every venue is different, so we will ask about yours before we confirm. Generally, we look for:

  • Parking close enough to carry equipment
  • Outdoor space or a ventilated gazebo
  • Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly.
