Paella catering for Broadford events

Paella catering in Broadford, cooked live

Paella was made for feeding a crowd: cooked in the open in a big, shallow pan and shared straight from it. That’s what we bring to events in Broadford. For retirement and leaving parties and birthday celebrations, we can cook vegan paella, vegetable paella and black rice.

In a small place like Broadford, events are typically in a garden, a field or a nearby hall. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives and we will plan for them, and cooking close to where we can park helps. Everything is cooked from scratch at your event, not reheated.

Working with your venue

If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We can send whatever the landowner or council needs from us.

Planners and coordinators can contact us directly, and we’ll keep everyone informed on the day.

What we need at the venue

We will agree the cooking spot with you before the day. A good spot ticks these boxes:

  • Access for unloading near the cooking spot
  • Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls
  • Good ventilation: outdoors, or an open-sided cover

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, have hot stock ready, and leave the rice alone once it’s in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

Some hosts like to cook themselves. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the cooking.

Common questions in Broadford

Can you cater a reception after a service at St Michael?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is usually elsewhere. Send us the reception address.

Which station should guests use for Broadford?

Shalford station, in Broadford itself.

Do you cater for young children?

Of course. A simple chicken paella is typically popular with children. Include children in your numbers.

Do you clear up afterwards?

We pack down our cooking area after service. Clearing guests’ plates and tables can be added with waiting staff.

How many different paellas?

Two or three covers most guests. We’ll recommend a mix based on diets.

Which paellas suit our guests?

It depends on your guests. A chicken or mixed paella is generally the most popular, with seafood and vegetable pans alongside.

Can you cook halal paella?

We can. Tell us how many guests need halal food, and it is cooked separately.

Can you provide dessert?

Yes. Churros, crema catalana and tarta de Santiago are popular choices, or you can serve your own cake.

Is live paella right for your event?

If you want something different from the usual buffet or roast, live paella brings colour, aroma and a touch of Spain. Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so tell us about the venue when you ask for a quote. Everything is confirmed in writing.

How the day works

Service is quick: the paella goes straight from the pan to the plate, so large groups are fed quickly. Afterwards we clear our cooking area away. In Broadford, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and venue.
  2. We plan the menu with you, including every diet.
  3. We arrive early to set up the burners and pans.
  4. The sofrito, stock and rice go in, and guests gather to watch.
  5. Service is straight from the pan, then we pack down.

Before we arrive

  • Keep the cooking spot clear of fences, hedges and branches
  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
  • Get the venue’s permission for cooking

Prices and what affects them

Live paella pricing is straightforward once we know the basics:

  • The number of people
  • How many staff you need
  • Plates, cutlery and glassware
  • Parking and unloading

Cost depends on guest numbers, the menu and the courses, along with staff, extras and travel. We quote for each event individually.

What we need to know

To speed things up, tell us:

  • Anything your venue supplies
  • The address or venue name
  • A picture of where we’d cook
  • Roughly how many adults and children

Send us the date, your venue or GU4 postcode and guest numbers, plus any dietary needs, and we will reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. To get started, send us your details through our quote form.

Dishes our guests love

Mixed paella

Mixed paella brings meat and seafood together, and it is frequently the first pan to empty.

Seafood paella

Prawns, mussels and squid in a rich fish stock, finished with lemon wedges. It is the pan people photograph.

Planning for every diet

We take diets and allergies seriously. Here’s how you can help:

  • Ask for labels on each pan
  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically
  • Confirm allergies by email
  • Let us know about other food at the event

You shouldn’t have to worry about the food on the day. We set up, cook and serve, and stay in touch with your venue about timings.

Tapas or canapés make a good start as the rice cooks.
