What affects the price in Simpson

Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, because of:

  • Plates, cutlery and glassware
  • How many staff you need
  • Guest numbers
  • Chicken, vegetable or premium seafood

Live paella pricing depends on the event. A simple paella lunch costs less than a wedding with canapés, three paellas and waiting staff. We itemise everything in your quote.

What we need to know

Here’s what makes a quick, accurate quote possible:

  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers
  • The venue or postcode
  • A photo of the space, if you can
  • What the venue already provides

To get a price, use our quote form. Give us the details of your event, and we will suggest paellas and extras to suit.

Paella in a bowl is perfect festival food, on the move or on a picnic rug. For village fêtes and summer fairs and VIP and hospitality areas, we can cook chicken and chorizo paella, churros and giant-pan paella.

DIY paella versus live catering

Not sure whether to cook yourself or book a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. We are happy to give you a quote to compare.

For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles separate pans for each diet.

Why live cooking beats a buffet

Burger and hot dog stalls are familiar but similar. A paella pan stands out in a food line-up. Live paella often compares well with a sit-down meal, because it needs no kitchen and fewer staff. Ask us for a quote.

Why Simpson hosts choose us

  • We cover Simpson and the whole of Milton Keynes
  • Paella cooked from scratch on site
  • Starters and desserts to complete the menu
  • Sangria, plus bar staff for your own drinks

Questions from Simpson

Which station should guests use for Simpson?

Bow Brickhill station, about 1.2 miles south-east of the centre.

How far is Simpson from London?

Roughly 45 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it as standard.

Is halal food available?

Yes. Halal paella is cooked with halal chicken and no pork or alcohol, in its own pan.

Should we have more than one paella?

Two or three covers most guests. We’ll recommend a mix based on diets.

Can we book you as a trader?

Tell us about your event, and we’ll confirm availability and requirements.

Can you cook in the rain?

Rain doesn’t stop us, as long as there is a ventilated cover. We will talk it through before the day.

How much is live paella catering?

Every event is quoted individually, based on what you actually want. Tell us your date and numbers for a clear quote.

Do you come to Simpson?

We do. Simpson is one of the places we cover. Tell us your date and we’ll check availability.

Organising for someone else?

Events in public spaces, like parks, usually need permission. We’ll provide any information the landowner or council asks for.

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: cooking areas, access times and documents. Tell us what your venue needs and we’ll work to it.

Who books festival paella catering in Simpson?

Organisers book paella because it draws people into the food area and serves them fast.

Big or small, live paella works well. Common bookings include:

  • Country shows
  • VIP and hospitality areas
  • Charity and school events
  • Community events and open days

If you’re organising a summer fair or fundraiser for a school such as Charles Warren Academy, a paella stall is a crowd-pleaser.

What your quote should include

  • Plates, cutlery and napkins, or disposables
  • How late numbers can change
  • The deposit and payment dates
  • What the caterer needs from your venue

Step by step

When we arrive, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so we time everything to your schedule. At midsummer, events in Simpson stay light until about 9:25pm, so evening trading typically finishes in daylight in high summer. Winter markets, dark by about 3:55pm, need a well-lit pitch.

  1. Tell us about the event, the crowd and the pitch.
  2. You get our stall menu and what we need on site.
  3. Paperwork goes over in good time.
  4. We time the first pans for the lunchtime rush.
  5. When trading ends, the pitch is cleared and left clean.

Getting ready for the day

  • Pick a flat, firm spot for us to cook
  • Tell us when you want to eat
  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
