Questions from Peasemore

Is Peasemore too small for live paella?

No, we cook in small places too. Let us know about access and parking.

Do you cater in the North Wessex Downs National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and cooking, so check with yours. We’ll follow the site rules.

Do you clear up afterwards?

We take our equipment and leave the cooking area tidy. Ask us about table clearing if you need it.

Can you supply plates?

If you need them, yes. Crockery, cutlery and napkins, or good-quality disposables can be added to your booking.

Can you cook halal paella?

Yes. We use halal chicken and leave out pork and alcohol, in its own pan.

How much space do you need?

Not a lot: a flat spot away from anything flammable, with space to serve. Send us a picture if you’re not sure.

Do you cook it at the event?

Yes, always. We cook from scratch in large pans at your venue, where your guests can watch.

How much is live paella catering?

The price depends on numbers, menu, courses, staff and travel. Tell us about your event and we’ll send a quote.

How it works

On the day, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so we time everything to your schedule. Summer events in Peasemore have daylight until about 9:25pm at midsummer and about 7:10pm by late September, so evening trading typically finishes in daylight in high summer. Winter markets, dark by about 4:00pm, need a well-lit pitch.

  1. Send the event name, expected visitors and pitch size.
  2. We reply with our menu, prices for visitors and requirements.
  3. Paperwork goes over in good time.
  4. On the day, the pans are on before the busiest hours.
  5. At close, we pack down and tidy up.

Getting ready for the day

  • Name one person we can ask on the day
  • Share the running order, including any speeches
  • Keep the cooking spot clear of fences, hedges and branches

Why live cooking beats a buffet

Burger and hot dog stalls are familiar but similar. A paella pan stands out in a food line-up. Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so your choice of paellas affects the total. Tell us your budget and we will suggest a menu.

Why us?

  • Catering across West Berkshire, including Peasemore
  • A quote that spells everything out
  • Cooking your guests will gather round to watch
  • Sangria, plus bar staff for your own drinks

Organising for someone else?

For larger events, we plan the number of pans and serving points around your timings, so everyone eats promptly. Let us know how long the food break is.

Venues frequently have their own rules about outside caterers: where cooking is allowed, access times and the paperwork they need. Tell us what your venue needs and we’ll work to it.

Catering for every guest

Paella is one of the easiest dishes for mixed diets, because each paella is cooked in its own pan. A few tips:

  • Ask about peak-time capacity
  • Provide seating near the food
  • Check allergen info is on display
  • Put all trader information in one pack

If crew or volunteer meals are booked, they’re served at the agreed times.

Larger pans for peak times.

  • Cooked live in giant pans at your event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
  • Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
  • Sangria, bar staff, crockery and waiting staff
