Questions from Herne Common

Is Herne Common close to London?

About 54 miles from central London, and well within our area.

Could we have live paella in Curtis Wood?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, usually the council. Check with them, and we’ll provide our paperwork.

Can you feed our volunteers?

Yes, timed to your schedule. Tell us numbers and timings.

What if the weather’s bad?

Rain doesn’t stop us, as long as there’s a ventilated cover. We will talk it through before the day.

Do you provide drinks?

Yes, sangria. For other drinks, we can provide bar staff to serve what you buy.

Can you cater for children?

Of course. A simple chicken paella is typically popular with children. Include children in your numbers.

What about pudding?

Yes. Churros, crema catalana and tarta de Santiago are popular choices.

What documents can you send?

Send your requirements and we will include them with our application.

Festival paella catering in Herne Common, made fresh on the day

A paella stall covers several diets at once: separate meat, seafood and vegan pans. That makes life easier for organisers. On the menu are churros, giant-pan paella and seafood paella, and typical bookings are for crew, volunteer and VIP catering and sports club events.

For a village fête or field event near Herne Common, a paella stall brings a hot, filling meal to a rural site. Tell us about the ground and access. Your quote spells out exactly what’s included: menu, staff, crockery and anything else you choose.

Planning the cooking area

No two venues are the same, so we ask about the space when you get in touch. In general, we need:

  • A pitch away from tents and structures
  • Room for our cooking and serving area
  • Access for unloading at set-up

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Planning for every diet

Good planning keeps every guest safe and happy. Try these:

  • Book crew catering in advance
  • Check how many portions traders can serve
  • Plan for vegan and gluten-free visitors
  • Provide seating near the food

At the end, we clear the pitch and leave it clean.

Travel, parking and access can affect the price, so it helps to tell us about your venue. Everything is confirmed in writing.

  • Where the event is
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • The date and time of the event
  • Whether the venue has crockery or staff

12 questions to ask before you book

What’s in the pans

Chicken & chorizo paella

Smoky and filling, popular with families.

Giant paella pans

A pan the size of a cartwheel, full of saffron rice.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party cooking. Booking us means you get the show without the stress.

The process

From set-up to serving, we look after the food, so you can enjoy your event. Any tapas or canapés are served first while the paella cooks. Summer events in Herne Common have daylight until about 9:15pm at midsummer and about 7:00pm by late September, so evening trading generally finishes in daylight in high summer. For winter markets, dark by about 3:50pm, the pitch needs lighting.

  1. Tell us about the event and pitch.
  2. We send our menu, needs and paperwork.
  3. We arrive and set up at the agreed time.
  4. We cook in full view and serve all event.
  5. We clear and leave the pitch clean.

Getting ready for the day
