Events in parks such as Bishopstone Cliffs need permission from the council or landowner, and we will send any documents they ask for. Running a fête for a church like Church of St Mary the Virgin? Dietary needs and planning tips

Paella is one of the easiest dishes for mixed diets, because every paella has its own pan. A few tips:

  • Make allergen information visible at every stall
  • Give traders a single information pack
  • Plan seating near the food area
  • Feed crew and volunteers at set times

Allergen details are available at the stall.

Hawthorn: your questions answered

Do you come out to small places like Hawthorn?

No, we cook in small places too. Let us know about access and parking.

Can you cook near the sea around Hawthorn?

Yes, as long as we can shelter from the wind. Wind is the main issue on the coast, so we plan shelter.

Can you do sangria?

We can make sangria, and we can staff a bar with your drinks.

Is it really cooked live?

Yes. We arrive with everything we need and cook it there and then, then serve straight from the pan.

Is halal food available?

We can. Tell us how many guests need halal food, and we’ll cook a separate pan.

Should we have more than one paella?

Normally two or three, so every guest has a choice. Tell us about your guests’ diets and we will suggest the mix.

Do you cook inside?

Generally we cook outdoors or under a ventilated cover, because we use gas burners. We will check whether your venue has a suitable space.

What happens if it rains?

We cook under cover, such as a gazebo, marquee or open-sided barn with good ventilation. We plan for rain with you in advance.

Where we can cook in Hawthorn

No two venues are the same, so we ask about the space before we confirm. In general, we need:

  • A pitch big enough for the pans, burners and serving table
  • Trader information and site rules
  • A pitch away from tents and structures

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before booking.

Should I cook it myself?

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party cooking. Booking us means you get the show without the stress.

Some hosts like to cook themselves. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the cooking.

Paella compared with other options

Most stalls cook to order. Paella is batch-cooked and served fast, so queues move quickly. Compared with a plated meal, live paella is frequently good value, as there is no kitchen to hire and fewer staff to pay. Ask us for a quote.

Why choose Love Paella in Hawthorn

  • Paella cooked from scratch on site
  • Add tapas, canapés and Spanish desserts
  • Crockery and waiting staff if you need them
  • Cooking your guests will gather round to watch

For planners, venues and organisers

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we will keep everyone informed on the day.

For larger events, we plan the number of pans and serving points around your timings, so guests are fed quickly. Tell us how long you have for food.

How it works

Service is quick: the paella goes straight from the pan to the plate, so large groups are fed quickly. Afterwards we clear our cooking area away. At midsummer, events in Hawthorn stay light until about 9:15pm, so evening trading normally finishes in daylight in high summer. For winter markets, dark by about 3:50pm, the pitch needs lighting.

  1. Send the event name, expected visitors and pitch size.
  2. We reply with our menu, prices for visitors and requirements.
  3. We send the documents the event asks for.
  4. On the day, the pans are on before the busiest hours.
  5. When trading ends, the pitch is cleared and left clean.
