Before you choose a spot

No two venues are the same, so we ask about the space before we confirm. Generally, we look for:

  • Room for our cooking and serving area
  • Flat, firm ground
  • Your arrangements for power, water and waste

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Organising for someone else?

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: where cooking is allowed, access times and the paperwork they need. Tell us what your venue needs and we’ll work to it.

Throwing a party at home? Send us a picture of the garden and tell us about access, and we’ll tell you honestly whether live paella will work.

The process

From set-up to serving, we look after the food, so you can enjoy your event. Any tapas or canapés are served first as the rice is cooking. Summer events in Halstead have daylight until about 9:20pm at midsummer and about 7:05pm by late September, so evening trading generally finishes in daylight in high summer. For winter markets, dark by about 3:55pm, the pitch needs lighting.

  1. Send the event name, expected visitors and pitch size.
  2. We reply with our menu, prices for visitors and requirements.
  3. Paperwork goes over in good time.
  4. We time the first pans for the lunchtime rush.
  5. At close, we pack down and tidy up.

How to prepare

  • Confirm the venue is happy with live cooking
  • Plan cover in case of rain
  • Have a level space ready for the pans

What festival paella catering costs

Here’s what makes the biggest difference to the price:

  • How long we’re needed on site
  • Your choice of paellas
  • How many staff you need
  • Crockery and cutlery, or disposables

Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so the menu you choose affects the price. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.

Details that help

You do not need every detail fixed to get a quote, but it helps to know:

  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • The courses you’d like
  • A picture of where we’d cook
  • Anything your venue supplies

Send us the date, your venue or TN14 postcode and guest numbers, along with any dietary needs, and we’ll reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. To get started, fill in our quote form.

Paella compared with other options

Crew sandwiches are easy but dull. A hot meal keeps crew happy. Larger events usually cost less per head, because the cooking set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Give us your numbers and we will quote.

Why book with us

  • Food that becomes part of the entertainment
  • Fast service from the pan
  • Events in Halstead and across Kent
  • Waiting staff and crockery on request

  • Festivals

  • VIP and hospitality areas

  • Whether VAT is included
  • Any travel, parking or access charges
  • How bad weather is handled

Choosing a paella caterer

Your questions about festival paella catering in Halstead

Is Halstead too small for live paella?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and parking.

How far is Halstead from London?

Roughly 15 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it as standard.

Can vegans eat at your stall?

Yes. There is a vegan pan next to the others.

Can you serve tapas as well?

Of course. Canapé tapas with the drinks, or table tapas to share, while the rice is cooking.

Do you cater for coeliacs?

We can, if you tell us in advance. The rice is gluten-free, but stocks and chorizo can contain gluten, so we cook a gluten-free paella separately.

Do you have a kids’ option?

Of course. A simple chicken paella is typically popular with children. Tell us how many are coming.

Do you come to Halstead?

We do. We cook at events in Halstead and across Kent. Send us your date to check availability.

Should we have more than one paella?

Two or three is usual: a meat or mixed paella, a seafood paella and a vegetable or vegan one. We’ll suggest a split based on your guests.

Halstead events: pitches and permissions

School fairs, for a school like Halstead Community Primary School, are a natural fit for a paella stall. Within about 3 miles is the Kent Downs National Landscape, where events may have extra rules on vehicles and waste; we work to the site rules.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.

Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but there’s shopping, prep and hours of cooking. We take care of all of it.

  • Cooked live in giant pans at your event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
  • Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
  • Sangria, bar staff, crockery and waiting staff
