Festival paella catering for Capel events
Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?
You can cook paella for a crowd yourself, but it takes practice. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right at scale is tricky. Read how to cook paella for a crowd.
Some hosts like to cook themselves. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the cooking.

Send your requirements and we will include them with our application.
How it works
The paella is cooked in giant, shallow pans over gas burners. It needs a level spot with some shelter and good ventilation, and we agree where that is before the day. Summer events in Capel have daylight until about 9:20pm at midsummer and about 7:05pm by late September, which helps evening trading. For winter markets, dark by about 3:55pm, the pitch needs lighting.
- It starts with your event details and pitch information.
- You get our menu, pitch requirements and paperwork.
- On the day, we arrive and set up our pitch.
- Pans cook in full view and we serve throughout the event.
- We clear the pitch and leave it clean.
Before we arrive
- Confirm numbers and diets before the day
- Leave space around the cooking area
- Choose a level spot for the cooking area
