How our festival paella catering works in Bluetown

Nothing draws a festival crowd like a giant paella. The sight and smell of it cooking brings people over, and service from the pan is fast. On the menu are chicken and chorizo paella, vegan paella and seafood paella, and we’re often booked for race days and sports events and school fairs and fundraisers.

Near Bluetown, events may be far from shops and cafés, so a paella stall is a welcome sight. Tapas, canapés, desserts, sangria and staff can all be added, so the whole menu comes from one caterer.

Event catering near Bluetown

Bluetown is about 4 miles south of Sittingbourne, in Kent. From the centre of Bluetown to the outskirts, we offer the same service: paella cooked live, every diet catered for and a clear quote. We cook in all 922 towns and villages across Kent, from the larger towns to small villages. We cook right across the region, from Bluetown to Canterbury (about 14 miles away).

Running a fête for a church like Church of St Catherine? A paella pan draws people in. If your event is in Cromers Wood, the organiser will need the landowner’s permission; we’ll supply our paperwork. Events in and around the Kent Downs National Landscape, within about 5 miles of Bluetown, frequently have rules about vehicles, ground and waste; we work to the site rules.

Anywhere in ME9, we can cook for your guests, from busy streets to quiet lanes. If your venue is just outside Bluetown, we also cover Hollybushes (1 mile west), Milstead (1 mile north-west), Doddington (1 mile south-east), Wichling (1 mile south) and Frinsted (2 miles west). Within a short drive, we also cover Maidstone (10 miles west), Ashford (12 miles south-east), Canterbury (14 miles east), Sittingbourne (4 miles north), Whitstable (13 miles east) and Faversham (6 miles east).

Nearby you will also find Newnham Castle (2.4 miles east) and Sittingbourne Heritage Museum (3.4 miles north).

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. Booking us means you get the show without the stress.

Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it is harder than it looks. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right for dozens of people takes experience. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.

For planners, venues and organisers

Venues frequently have their own rules about outside caterers: where cooking is allowed, access times and the paperwork they need. Send us your venue’s requirements and we’ll follow them.

If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We will provide any information the landowner or council asks for.

What affects the price in Bluetown

Here’s what makes the biggest difference to the price:

  • Travel, parking and access
  • How long we are needed on site
  • The number of people
  • Plates, cutlery and glassware

Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so it helps to tell us about your venue. The full price is confirmed before you book.

Getting an accurate quote

To check availability and price, we need:

  • Expected numbers
  • Anything your venue supplies
  • The date and time of the event
  • The venue or postcode

Most quotes start with a few simple details: date, location, guest numbers and diets. To send them, use our quote form.

Questions from Bluetown

Do you cater in the Kent Downs National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules; ask your venue. We will follow the site rules.

What’s the nearest station to Bluetown for guests?

The closest is Sittingbourne station, roughly 3.6 miles away.

Can you do gluten-free paella?

Yes, on request. Rice is naturally gluten-free, but stock and some ingredients may not be, so we cook a gluten-free paella separately.

Will there be enough food?

We size the pans for your numbers and the rest of the menu. Tell us what else is being served. Our guide to portions explains more.

Can we add tapas or canapés?

Yes, it’s the classic pairing. Tapas first, paella to follow.

How soon do we need to book?

As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Even if it is short notice, it is worth asking.

How much space do you need?

Not a lot: a flat spot away from anything flammable, with space to serve. Send us a picture if you’re not sure.

What does festival paella catering cost?

Every event is quoted individually, so you only pay for what you need. Give us your date, numbers and menu ideas for a clear quote.

The process

Here’s how the day usually runs: we set up the pans and start the sofrito, your guests watch the rice cook, and we serve straight from the pan at the agreed time. Summer events in Bluetown have daylight until about 9:15pm at midsummer and about 7:00pm by late September, so evening trading normally finishes in daylight in high summer. For winter markets, dark by about 3:50pm, the pitch needs lighting.

  1. It starts with your event details and pitch information.
  2. We confirm our menu, pitch needs and documents.
  3. We arrive at the agreed time to set up the pitch.
  4. The paella cooks in full view, and we serve from the pan through the event.
  5. At the end, we clear our pitch.

Before we arrive

  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
  • Give us a contact for the day
  • Leave space around the cooking area
