Awbridge: your questions answered

Do you trade at school fairs around Awbridge?

Yes, with the school’s permission. Send us the date, pitch and expected numbers.

Do you come out to small places like Awbridge?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking.

Can you provide dessert?

Yes, Spanish desserts can be added. Let us know if you’d like one when you ask for a quote.

Is the paella gluten-free?

Yes, on request. The rice is gluten-free, but stocks and chorizo can contain gluten, so we make a separate gluten-free pan.

Do you do crew catering?

Yes, timed to your schedule. Send us numbers and times.

Do you do starters?

Yes, and it’s a popular combination. Tapas go out first, then the paella.

How much space do you need?

Level ground for the burners, pans and a table, in the open air or a ventilated covered area, and the venue’s permission for live cooking.

How long does the paella take?

It depends on the menu and numbers. We will agree arrival, cooking and serving times with you.

What festival paella catering costs

There is nothing hidden: the quote reflects:

  • The number of people
  • Chicken, vegetable or premium seafood
  • Crockery and cutlery, or disposables
  • Waiting and bar staff

The price depends on your guest numbers, the menu and how many courses you choose, along with staff, extras and travel. Every event gets its own quote.

What to tell us

When you contact us, it helps to tell us:

  • The address or venue name
  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • The date and time of the event

Still deciding on the menu? No problem: tell us about the occasion and the guests, and we’ll suggest a menu. To start, send us your details through our quote form.

How the day works

Once the rice is in, we don’t stir it. That is how the grains cook evenly and the toasted base, the socarrat, forms. Your guests will smell it before they see it. Summer events in Awbridge have daylight until about 9:25pm at midsummer and about 7:10pm by late September, so evening trading typically finishes in daylight in high summer. Winter markets, dark by about 4:00pm, need a well-lit pitch.

  1. Tell us about the event and pitch.
  2. We send our menu, needs and paperwork.
  3. We arrive and set up at the agreed time.
  4. We cook and serve throughout.
  5. We clear and leave the pitch clean.

Preparing for the day

  • Give us a contact for the day
  • Check the venue allows live cooking
  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely

How to get a price

It covers several diets with one trader.

In Awbridge and nearby, we cater all sorts of events. Some of the most common are:

  • Summer fairs and fêtes
  • Feeding crew and volunteers
  • Race days and sports events
  • Open days

For a church fête or fundraiser, at a church such as Church of All Saints, a paella stall adds a hot meal to the cakes and tombola.

What to look for in a quote

  • Travel and parking costs
  • Staff numbers and hours
  • A clear list of what’s included
  • VAT, if it applies

How to compare caterers

Is live paella right for your event?

Some traders struggle with vegan and gluten-free options. A paella stall can have a vegan pan alongside the rest. Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so the menu you choose affects the price. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.

Why choose Love Paella in Awbridge

  • Paella cooked from scratch on site
  • Cooking your guests will gather round to watch
  • No hidden extras in your quote
  • Hot food served quickly from the pan

Should I cook it myself?

You can hire equipment and do it yourself, but you’ll still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. A caterer handles all of that.

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, have hot stock ready, and leave the rice alone once it is in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

Planning the cooking area

Most gardens and venues can host live paella, but a few things matter:

  • A pitch big enough for the pans, burners and serving table
  • Vehicle access to the pitch at set-up and break-down
  • Your arrangements for power, water and waste

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and we will say what we think before you book.
