Honor Oak questions
What about parking in Honor Oak?
London parking needs planning: let us know about permits or off-street space. We’ll work around it.
Can you cook in Peckham Rye?
Only if the landowner, usually the council, allows it. Check with them, and we will provide our paperwork.
Do you clear up afterwards?
We take our equipment and leave the cooking area tidy. Ask us about table clearing if you need it.
Can you do gluten-free paella?
We can, if you tell us in advance. The rice is gluten-free, but stocks and chorizo can contain gluten, so we cook a gluten-free paella separately.
Do you do vegan paella?
Yes, and meat eaters often go back for seconds. Each is cooked separately, with its own stock and utensils.
Can you cook indoors?
Mostly outside or under an open cover, since the burners are gas. We’ll check whether your venue has a suitable space.
Do you cook it at the event?
It is. We arrive with everything we need and cook on the day, then serve straight from the pan.
What documents can you provide?
Ask facilities for their list and pass it on and we’ll respond.

Space, weather and the venue
We will be honest if a space will not work. The main points are:
- Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls
- Good ventilation: outdoors, or an open-sided cover
- Approval from your facilities team or building manager
As a London location, Honor Oak is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: let us know about permits, bays or off-street parking.
If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and we will say what we think before you book.

What affects the price in Honor Oak
The same guest numbers can mean different prices, depending on:
- Your choice of paellas
- Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert
- How many staff you need
- Plates, cutlery and glassware
Premium seafood costs more than chicken or vegetables, so your choice of paellas affects the total. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.
What we need to know
For a quote, it helps to have:
- Approximate guest numbers, including children
- What the venue already provides
- The date and rough timings
- Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers
Not sure what you need yet? No problem: give us the basics about your work event, and we will make suggestions. To start, use our quote form.
How it works
On the day, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so the timing is planned around your event. In Honor Oak, a summer staff party stays light until about 9:20pm; winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, need lit cooking and serving areas.
- We start with your date, venue, headcount, timings and diets.
- You get a menu, a quote and any documents the venue asks for.
- We agree access, parking and set-up times with you or the venue.
- On the day we set up, cook live and serve at the agreed time.
- We pack down and leave the space tidy.
Before we arrive
- Arrange parking near the cooking spot
- Pick a flat, firm spot for us to cook
- Confirm numbers and diets before the day

Should I cook it myself?
For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.
If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, have hot stock ready, and leave the rice alone once it is in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.
Diets, allergies and planning
Paella is one of the easiest dishes for mixed diets, because every paella has its own pan. A few tips:
- Make sure there are plenty of soft drinks
- Share diet numbers and allergies in writing
- Let us know how long people have to eat
- Find out what paperwork the venue needs
Staff can serve canapés or bowl food during a reception, so guests can network while they eat.
Churros or Spanish desserts to finish.

- Cooked live in giant pans at your event
- Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
- Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
- Sangria, bar staff, crockery and waiting staff
